Dirt's 3002 Trade Grades
Knicks trade:
3004 Hawks 1st (1.4)
3004 Knicks 1st (1.6)
3006 Chaps 1st (1.14)
3006 Knicks 1st (1.24)
Suns trade:
Luke Maye
Knicks Grade: A
Suns Grade: A -
-I think this a solid trade for both teams but Maye did go for a little cheaper than expected. I was expecting 3 top 10 picks but this package is very similar. Ank gets his guy and Luck gets a package of picks to really build a team in the next few years. PHO will have 2 top 6 picks in 04 and a 2nd overall in 05. Getting the picks so close to his 1.2 was very important and we should see a new and improved Suns team in a few years. It’s good to see Ank using his future assets to get Bojan the ring he deserves.
Timberwolves Send:
Preston Brandon
3005 1.20 (LAC)
Nets Trade:
Russell Cross
Wolves Grade: B
Nets Grade: B
-This looks to be part 1 of a two part deal. Not sure the importance of this deal but I think its fair. Cross is a decent 3rd big and with the pick you could have a chance for a better one. We all know you can find a solid big for 1.20 so it’s a pretty fair deal at the moment. We will see what happens when deal 2 is posted.
Bullets Trade:
Bill Spivey $5,767,183
Sam Muldrow $5,500,000
Kenneth Lyons $2,150,000
3003 Bullets 1st (1.18)
3006 Bullets 1st (1.6)
10 3003 upgrade points
Cougars Trade:
Chief Kickingstallionsims $15,750,000
10k skrouse
Cougars Grade: A
Bullets Grade: C+
-I think Yawn is probably the most entertaining GM in 6.0. I hate saying this but this trade was BAD for the Bullets. I would have liked it more if he would have kept Buford. Selling off a solid SG and then giving up too much for a big was a bit surprising. I understand he’s trying to make the best out of losing one of the top 8 players in the league. Chief is a good player but I think you could have found better value through the draft. I just think 1.6 is too much for this type of big man. Maybe 1.8 and 1.18 would look better but I still think that would have been an overpay. Washington has some work to do to ocme back from such bad luck in FA. Selling off Gathers for the proper assets might be their best bet. Carolina is one of the better franchises in the league, competing for Titles and having solid picks coming up in the next 5 years.
Toronto Trades:
Sergei Belov
Da'Sean Butler
Atlanta Trades:
Aziz N'Diaye
Perry Ellis
Tom Coverdale
Darwin Cook
Marcel Jones
3003 1.8 (ATL)
3005 1.26 (ATL)
3006 1.23 (ATL)
3007 1.13 (ATL)
Atlanta Grade: A-
Toronto Grade: B
-Not a fan at all for the Raptors on this trade. I sense a little bit of friendship hand shake agreement here. After what Chief went for and now seeing this I’m just a bit flabbergasted. I think delap could have held out for a better deal. You have two decent picks here but he just traded away the best PG in the league for bottom dollar. Belov may be a rental but getting Butler in the deal made this a lop-sided deal. ATL gets the better players and trades away decent assets to try and get their championship.
Clippers Send:
Kyle Hines
Bucks Send:
Chris Allen
Dexter Strickland
Magic 3005 1st Round Pick (1.4)
Bucks Grade: B+
Clippers Grade: A
-This trade all comes down to what the Bucks can do next season. Hines was a top 5 big in the league and adding him to a team that went to the Western Conferene Finals is scary. Bucks may be one piece away but with his 1.2 coming up he’s on course to be a front runner for the 03 title. Dirt came out with a fair deal for a stud player and getting a 1.4 for a 35 year old is solid value. Hines went for more than the MVP and they are the same age. With the PG position so top heavy, its surprising Dirt got a top 5 pick for an older big man.
Bobcats Trade:
James Blackmon
Clippers Trade:
Chris Allen
Dexter Strickland
3007 LAC 1st Round (1.8)
50K
Bobcats Grade: B+
Clippers Grade: B+
-This may be one of the fairer deals in this league so far this season. Blackmon has been playing alongside arguably the best wing in the league. He still had +20 into his upgrades and Odin was ready to move on and move some pieces. Dirt was willing to trade the 1.8 in a stacked draft to flip Blackmon. He was hoping on a team he could reach his potential on would bring more assets than 1.8. The LAC GM is making a lot of moves and some are bad, some are good, and most are ugly. We will see how Blackmon plays on a playoff team being the #2 option.
Clippers Trade:
Drazen Dalipagic
Mavericks Trade:
David Lighty
Pat Kiscaden
Raul Dampier
3004 Mavs 1st Round 1.27
Clippers Grade: C
Mavericks Grade: A-
-This is a bad deal for Dirt and a great deal for Soup. Seems a little bit of freinship got in the way on this deal. Drazen played amazing his first year in Indy and was sold off for Drexler. Dirt was hoping to put the together the inaugural championship team but fell short when Drazen didn’t play in the most important game of his career. He is older and has already been sent to Germany. Soup should plug Drazen in put his +20 upgrades in him and take him to the promise land. 1.27 is a bit worthless in the league and Soup turned it into a solid starting wing with above average efficiency. This is one of Dirt’s ugly deals and should have received more.
Sixers Trade:
Dawson Kersey
Jean Derouillere
Nigel Dixon
3007 1st round pick (1.4)
Clippers Trade:
Antonella Riva
Michael Holton
3004 1st round pick (1.27 via Dallas)
Clippers Grade: A-
Sixers Grade: A-
-The most overlooked trade in TMBSL to date is Riva to the baby Sixers. Bankz finds his DD replacement in Riva for 1.4. Riva lack in rebounds but his efficiency makes up for it. Antonella is a solid addition and should be a perfect fit for Bankz. The price of the other wings in the league Riva was the best bang for Bankz buck. Dirt gets what he wanted and deciding to get his 2nd top 5 pick to go along side his top 5 pick in 08. Bankz has a chance for his tittle while Dirt gets the assets he needs to rebuild down the road.
Blazers Send:
3005 1.8 (Blazers)
3007 1.25 (Blazers)
Bart Lundy
Kevin A Martin
Bullets Send:
William Buford
Blazers Grade: A-
Bullets Grade: C+
-Step 1 for the Majic championship build starts with a bang. A very impressive more for the Blazers making them an exciting team to watch. He adds to the very impressive Sampson and has the opportunity to be competitive. The value he got for Buford was outstanding. Unfortunately, Yawn doesn’t get the proper value here. Buford the 1st team SG last season should have given you more than a 1.8. The 1.25 is just a fancy way for you take the 1.8 instead of asking for a 1.6 or a 1.5. The Bullets have a long road to rebuild and doing these types of trades aren’t going to make it easier on him.
Blazers Send:
Roeland Schaftenaar
Trevor Releford
10k
3004 1.16 (Blazers)
3005 1.7 (Bullets)
Magic Send:
Josh Peppers
Magic Grade: B+
Blazers Grade: B+
-After Skrouse gave up 1.4 in the Penny draft I was assuming Peppers would be in Orlando for life. After a disappointing TC and 01 season, Skrouse decided to send peppers out for a similar deal to the other SGs in the league. It was a fair deal for both sides and if Peppers minutes could increase I think the Blazers could really make some noise the next couple seasons. They are young enough to keep this core together for some time. Both teams here received what they want and what they needed to build their franchise the right way. Only time will tell if the Blazers have what it takes to compete.
Bobcats trade:
Demetrius Mitchell
Shawn James
Grizzlies trade:
Sam Dower
Brett Comer
Pierluigi Marzorati
50k
Grizzlies 05 1st (1.12)
Grizzlies 06 2nd (2.1)
Grizzlies Grade: B+
Bobcats Grade: B+
-This trade is tough for me, I like Mitchell but we know his potential is a little scary. Depending on the market and what delap received for Belov I like this deal a little more for Odin. The Grizzlies bring in a great PG and give up minimal assets to try and go b2b. Odin shipped out Blackmon and Mitchell and didn’t receive any top 5 picks. I was hoping he could get a little more value out of his 2 pieces but he did keep one of the best small forwards in the league. Druce has a 1.1 coming up and giving away a 1.12 to keep his team at the top was a solid deal for him. All in all I like this deal for both sides and I’m curious the offers Odin received for Mitchell.
Knicks Trade:
AJ Granger
Lamont West
Adam Sundov
3005 Knicks 1st (1.6)
Raptors Trade:
Luke Recker
10k
Knicks Grade: B
Raptors Grade: B+
-The illegal PED use made this trade entertaining for the league. I can see Recker was worth a 1.6 but surprised out of all the SGs he demanded the most. After losing his +10 we will see what happens for Ank but to be honest he’s the 3rd option on a great team so it shouldn’t matter much. Delap came out on top on this deal and that’s good news after getting such little value for Butler and Belov. Ank completes his championship roster and delap gets a solid pick for his rebuild. Other than the controversy all I have to say is this trade seems fair on both sides even though I think Ank gave a little too much.
Clippers Trade:
James Blackmon Jr.
Rick Mahorn
Ron Perry
Pacers Trade:
Branko Lazic
Kevin Pittanogle
Rashad Anderson
Scotty Thurman
Pacers 06 1st Rounder 1.3
Clippers Grade: B+
Pacers Grade: A-
-A pretty big blockbuster than went unnoticed by the league. Dirt expresses the potential of Mahorn like BK does his players and it paid off being able to send him out alongside Blackmon for a very important asset for his rebuild. The Pacers have an expiring Staten and Heebs was dedicated to make sure and give him a chance for a title. Indy needed some help after the East made moves this offseason. Mahorn is a strong big man with great inside and Blackmon should complete the wings for heebs. In my opinion I think this deal really slides towards Indy. Dirt pulled the trigger and sent a solid offer because of the importance of having 4 top 5 picks in 4 years. With this trade I truly believe Indy can compete and should have just as much RNG chance as any in the league to win this year’s title. If he can resign Staten this core should be together for as long as Drexler and Blackmon are under contract.
Bobcats Trade:
Bobcats 07 1st (1.21)
Michael Jenkins
BJ McKie
Magic trade:
Oscar Schmidtt
Magic Grade: B
Bobcats Grade: B
-A small trade that Odin pushed through on his rebuild for 3002. It looks like he decided to move pieces around instead of building assets for the future. He looks to buy low on Schmidt and help Estes now instead of in the future. Not a bad deal for both sides since Orlando wasn’t going anywhere this season. A late 20s pick isn’t very much but he did get more for Schmidt than Dirt got for Drazen. Skrouse is doing what he needs to do to rebuild around Wrenn. Hopefully skrouse can resign him and put these future assets together to rebuild a championship contender.
Timberwolves Trade:
Bootsy Thornton
3007 1.17 (MIN)
Bobcats Trade:
Torin Francis
Brett Comer
Robbie Cowgill
3007 1.08 (From LAC)
Wolves Grade: A
Bobcats Grade: B+
-The Sim league whore gets passed around again for possibly the seventh time. Bootsy getting his upgrades and being the #1 scoring option has boosted his price tag throughout the years. Odin doing more of a re-tool decided to give away a pretty decent pick to continue his path to a title. Time will tell if Bootsy can continue his fabulous year playing alongside another elite player. Ian comes out as a bandit getting Bootsy at a lower price due to the Mavericks cap situation this off-season. Great trade for Ian and I think Odin got what he wanted and at this point with 1.8 that’s what you’re looking for.
Sixers Trade:
Manute Bol
Nets Trade:
Andrew Steele
Ennis Whatey
3004 1st round pick (1.5 via Toronto)
Sixers Grade: A-
Nets Grade: B
-It’s good to see Dirt is rubbing off on people. A huge trade goes down and a lot of different opinions. I don’t understand the reasoning of BK wanting Bol. Oldham for the knicks is a low end bol and he was a 2nd rounder. If you put your money on the line and get your scouts you can find someone similar. Bol’s rebounding are poor and post d is really bad. The value for Shot Blocking bigs are a bit out of control to me. The Grizzlies were the worst shot blocking team in the league and won a title. I’d much rather take this 1.5 pick next year as the Nets GM. Bankz trading any player at this point is most definitely a dirt move. He received great value for a non-scoring big and at this time in the league players like Josh Smith win you titles not guys like Manute Bol. Even if BK moves the 30 strength to 30 rebounding I still don’t think he was worth 1.5.
