Currently, a player who won a non-rookie award AND has an A- can be a mentor.
I'm of the opinion we should amend mentoring to allow for more players to be mentors, which I think would also mirror real life more accurately.
I think someone should be able to mentor if:
- They win an All-League award and have an A- grade - They are 30 years or older and have an A- grade
This would allow "great" players (all-league) and "veterans" (30+) to mentor in things they're good at.
Any of these numbers and grades are flexible, but I thought it'd be a good conversation to have.

I would like to see the use of this expanded.
I also like the idea of it being reduced to B+ but like this proposal.

I want the "previous season's all league awards" portion to be a bit more lenient.
Drop the requirement of the immediate previous season for 30+ older players imo.

I like the exclusivity. I don't think what this league is missing is more free upgrades.

I like the exclusivity. I don't think what this league is missing is more free upgrades. Agree. And even if we do make a chance, remember that Eric has been building these classes based on the upgrades available. If we're going to change the rules to add more upgrades, we should make it effective after the last player in the league now (including the 3002 software) retires.

at the end of 5.0 i checked out what it would look like if the rule were 30+ with A- and an award at any point in the career. it was much fewer than previous year awards. that being said, i do think we need expanded eligible teams because, at least in this case, what worked for 16 teams won't work for 29. i think the best approach is to add the 30+/career award to the existing eligibility.

It seems this is not widely desired so I won't bother going through how mentors would've looked with the suggested amendment.

we should tie mentoring into an age/win share metric, like over 30, 10+ win shares or something

dumb idea incoming:
what if the amount of upgrade depended upon the grade of the player doing the mentoring
B+ is +4 A- is +5 A is +6 A+ is +7
