UNLV's rockem-sockem forward Larry Johnson is the frontrunner of the big forwards. The two-time All-American combines startling quickness and incredible strength into a formidable package. Polished in the post and leverages the scoring threat into low risk passes to teammates for easy baskets, even contributes without the ball in his hands as a solid spot up shooter all the way past the three point line. Lurks on the offensive boards to goo deffect, but this exacerbates what is frankly a lack of effort on the defensive end, and lack of size and motivation will keep him from ever being a strong shot blocker.

Kenny "The Net" Anderson is very quick with the ball, makes directional changes faster than any guard in college, and has great court vision. Very reliable from the line, Anderson's three point shot is just broken at pro distance, but scouts rave about his mentality and stick-to-it-ivity. In the right situation Anderson should blossom into at worst a capable three point shooter, and he brings a tenacious ballhawk mentality to the defensive end that should get him minutes from day one, although he just doesn't have the size to compete in the post defensively.

Syracuse
Syracuse's multi-dimensional Billy Owens was college basketball's most versatile performer this past season. He can either take a big man all the way to the three point line and shoot over him or dribble around him. Smaller foes have trouble with his exceptional post-up abilities, but found respite in their ability to just hack and put his surprisingly mediocre free throw shooting to the test. Owens also has an especial need to clean up the silly turnovers given how much he passes, and his nose for the rebound at this point is strictly limited to the offensive board. The infamous "zone" he's been trained in leads some scouts to believes Owens has "zoned out" and won't respond even to grown up coaching.

Michigan State
Is Michigan State's Steve Smith a mini Magic? Not quite, but definitely the finest Spartan hoopster since the days of Mr. Johnson (with apologies to former Stag Scott Skiles). Smith has good size for an off-guard, a decent first step and very good range on his jumpshot, but was only a decent finisher at the rim in the minors, leading scouts to question whether he can be truly efficient in the pros, an especially important concern considering he brings little else to the table - not blessed with exceptional athleticism, not a rebounder, doesn't track back on defense. Will get a good number of assists for a non point guard, though.

Georgetown
Great size and long arms made him one of the best shotblockers in collegiate basketball history. Limited offensively, the 7-foot-2 Hoya needs to improve his array of post moves, explosive leaping alone won't get the job done in the pros, and needs similar refinement to go from a good to great rebounder. Not a three point threat but will hit his free throws. Struggles to keep the ball moving on offense, very vulnerable to weak side rotations. Although an older player, Mutombo's maturity and work ethic indicate significant growth in the pros.

Mizzou
Strengths:
- Feathery stroke from the midrange, nice turnaround over either shoulder.
- Soft touch around the rim to score from multiple angles.
- Fast hands lead to a lot of strips of opposing bigs.
Weaknesses:
- Needs to add muscle mass to hold up in the TMBSL game.
- Not an intuitive shot blocker.
- Range does not extend out past the 16-17' area.

New Mexico
A finesse big man, Longley's preferred modus operandi is to set up shop at the elbow, draining 18 footers and hitting cutters with unorthodox passes learned by playing while standing on his head as all people in antipodean Australia do. Burly and strong, Lucky Luc-y just doesn't have the touch around the rim to be a real post threat or the killer instinct to go get a rebound on either end, but size alone gets him more than his share of blocks and steals. A gentle and empathetic young kid, Longley is unlikely to put in the hours to develop much further.

The Rebels' high-flying wingman is second to none in the open court and has improved his outside shooting. Augmon is considered by many to be the finest defensive player in the country, although you wouldn't know it from just the counting stats. Relentless focus on defense and a lack of explosiveness keeps him from accruing defensive rebounds as well, but sneaks his way to an alarming number of offensive rebounds without compromising defensive balance. Hasn't extended his range to the pro three point line yet, but Augmon puts in the hours in the gym and that should come in time, and until then his thoughtful passing will keep him from being a complete offensive liability.

Arizona
Possesses all the skills necessary to be a superb pro center and is also quick enough to play the forward spot, Dele is the most versatile defender in the class by some margin and shows off an array of skills on the offensive end too, even trying his hand at the experimental "three" point shot. Despite having pro tier measurables, Dele's combine scores have been described as "a disaster" and "hard to watch", demonstrating a lack of vertical burst that explains his merely average rebounding, but the biggest red flag for scouts is handling that can charitably be called rudimentary and a complete absence of desire to improve.
