Dirty Notes - Reactions to 3001 Season Opener
Los Angeles Clippers
Fracs say it was a bad stretch for the Clips but will they overcome? The wings for the Clippers are playing piss poor and we will see if they can turn it around. The Clippers have started the season 5-4 with losses to the Stags and Warriors. Will they get their stuff together or continue to disappoint?
Philadelphia 76ers
The Baby Sixers are showing out early this season. Carr and Ellis are looking like studs and owner Bankz must be thrilled. Will the rookies continue to play this well? The 76ers are 7-1 to start the season and i'll be curious to see how far this team can go. They could be a FA signing away from being a true contender in the next couple years. Selling out of creation draft doesn't seem as bad now.
Dallas Mavericks
The defending champ Mavericks hit the ground running to start the 3001 season. Losing a starting wing is just a distant thought for owner Soup. The Fracs are still there and the MVP looks to be getting better. After Sim 1 it looks like the Mavericks are on pace to go for their 2nd title.
Portland Trail Blazers
Sampson is shining in Portland and looks to be an instant All-Team player. He does everything well and looks like to be an instant all-star lock his rookie year. The Blazers have started the season strong and are leading the Pacific Divison. Will Sampson bring home a division win for Majic and a very important 2 seed?
Brooklyn Nets
BK is showing massive amounts of love for Russell Cross after a dazzling preseason. Will his numbers continue to grow and reflect preseason or disappoint? Will Cross get moved for draft assets or will he continue to rot in Brooklyn. BK has multiple picks the next couple season, this year nothing is more important than trading Bootsy and Cross to get more assets to add to his young roster in a few years. I think BK moves Bootsy for nothing but keeps Cross with no takers this season.
Orlando Magic
Orlando uppied Peppers and hopes he can help them take the next step in this playoffs. Will the Dino-less Magic fall short again this season. They started the season slow, can they turn it around? The 1 seed is so important and after Sim 1 it looks like they just aren't there yet.
Indiana Pacers
Clyde looks amazing in his first sim of his career. I think he is looking special and should have more room to grow. The Pacers had a solid sim 1 and lets see if heebs 2 man punch can keep them in the playoff run. As of now they have some good pieces and may only be 1 good wing away from title contention.
Seattle SuperSonics
Tim is in a relaxing position at the moment. Spending money to help cap room for next season is big. He has a young hidden gem he can groom when he waits patiently for FA and draft picks to come through. The biggest impact will be what he can get for Dickerson. I don't know if he will get what he's looking for but crazier things have happened.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State is still in the rebuild phase of 6.0. 3001 will be about flipping Muldrow but after Sim 1 he doesn't look too good. I'm not sure what he will get for him but even a 2nd rounder is more than what he had before signing him.
Charlotte Bobcats
The Bobs are still looking dangerous in the East. They may have improved just by losing Muldrow. He was able to bring in some cheap bigs that get the job done. Estes going off, Mitchell coming in strong from Germany. He should just chill and hope for a healthy team come Finals time.
Toronto Raptors
Butler had a bad sim but the team did really well as a whole. Belov is a stud and should give them a chance in the playoffs. There is al ot players on the block and i'm curious to see if delap keeps the same team. His team did well in TC and i think he has a decent chance to bring home a championship.
Carolina Cougars
20s seems happy with his bigs this season and we all know he's lacking a wing.. Big things will be happening in Carolina this season or it may have to wait until the draft comes around. Alot of good pieces on the roster and solid assets for the future. Time will come when Carolina is sitting atop the East it just may have to wait one more season.
Chicago Bulls
I think Mike should feel ok about losing Pope. He is a good player BUT i don't think he's worth that max money. Bulls haven't been big movers or shakers so we'll see if he can pick the right guys at 9 and 4 in the next 2 drafts. He should consider some buy-outs to get some cap space.
Washington Bullets
Poor Yawn i feel so bad for him. It's going to be difficult to recover but he did get Buford so it wasn't a total loss this FA. We will see if he can pull a rabbit out of his hat the next couple years. At the moment he looks to be stuck in the mud.
New York Knicks
Ank pulled off the best move we've seen so far in 3001. Trading George for 1.4 is looking pretty good at the moment. This rookie class is stacked and having a chance at a top 4 pick seems way more enticing. He wasn't going anywhere this season or next so it made the most sense to make the move. Bojan is still the best player in the league and has a lengthy contract.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Sap has some work to do but he's doing the best he can. Trying to gain bucks and picks for bad contracts and trading some upgrades for next year was a good idea. He has 1.1 and it's a fabulous start for a new GM. So far I'm happy Sap joined us. I hope he can watch and learn from his buds and we can see him make a push the next 3-5 years.
Charlotte Hornets
Sry Fecta but your boy Walker was a bad pick. You could have had Stip or McCray. I think Witherspoon is a decent piece and we will see what he does with his roster. He took a step back with a bad draft but the most important thing is keeping Kemp this off-season.
Miami Heat
Duc is in kind of a no man's land at the moment. He doesn't have many assets and his best player is an expiring. It will be interesting to see what he does the next couple years. I hope he can bring back Gates and continue to build around him. If he doesn't he has a long hill to climb to become a contender.
Atlanta Hawks
Why JHB why? I guess he thinks Larry Brown can help bring him a title but i just don't see it. After seeing this draft class i would not have traded 1.4 for George. I hope I'm wrong and he can bring a title to Atlanta but i don't see it. It's early he's 3-1 so I can't count him out just yet but i will.
Pittsburgh Pipers
I don't have any bad to say about Ba. He's been a little more active not doing anything bad. He has a great pick coming up so i hope he keeps it and picks the right guy. I think he needs to try and buyout Wolfinger or amnesty so he can have some more cap in the coming years. If he can get his cap under control i think he will be on the right track. Lull looks really good so teaming him with 1.2 should be the way to do it.
Chicago Stags
Troy's team is not good but he has a shit ton of draft picks coming up. He's probably really bored at the moment but the next few years are crucial with the amount of young talent he will have. If the Draft Classes continue to show out the Stags are on track to be very competitive in 4 years.
Vancouver Grizzlies
Druce built a team he could have for a few years. He picked creation guys with multi year deals so he doesn't have to worry about FA. If he can add a piece in 3 years at 1.12 he should be good to go for the next 5 years. Can his team break through the Bobs and Mavs before other teams catch up to him? I'm worried about the longevity with his twin towers at F potential and can't go to Germany. (yo druce trade me Joshua Smith)
Phoenix Suns
Andrew is doing the smart thing waiting on that 1.2 to come. He has 2 lotto type picks in the next 2 of 3 drafts with Maye. After seeing other GMs go all in i think it was very smart for him to settle down and take the young guys and wait. He is a solid team in the West that probably can't break through but hot dam watch out after the 05 draft.
Milwaukee Bucks
Mil is going to be good post 3005. He has some sweet picks coming up and should be a force in the West. The Mavs, Clips, Grizz will be cooling off when the Bucks are going to be gearing up. Trofie's patients could bring him home a title if he can pick the right guys. I don't know what he will get for Pope or Ian but i can also see some Amnesty's in his near future.
Texas Chaparrals
Chap has some decisions to make this season with DD. At this moment he won't be able to re-sign DD unless he moves some contracts around. He wants a top 10 pick for Dimitris and i don't know if he'll get it. I think he's worth it but i don't know if any of the big hitters have the assets to get him. Breshers looks good so far this season but that signing could ruin DD coming back home. Chap has 2 solid picks coming up so he should be good to go in a couple years.
Sacramento Kings
Irush did a terrible job in FA but did get a couple solid rookies. Green looks good and i wouldn't give up on Harper just yet. He has some cap space for next season but if he's smart he'll bring that cap to 18 mil instead of just 14.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Ian is selling any assets he has and it's working. He has some really good picks coming up. Bucks, Twolves, Stags are on the same timeline and we should see some completive matchups after 3005. He is doing some good trades and i like what he did with the Blazers trading for 1.5. Ian is patient and it should get him into position to be successful down the line.
San Antonio Spurs
Egg is not very active with trades and i dont know what his plan is. He has some picks coming up that can help and if he keeps getting players like McCray he should be good to go. Next season he gets another 1.6 and has cap space for 3003. So far he's being patient and i think that's the best plan of action for him.
Los Angeles Lakers
Twind has been quiet but has 1.1 in a very nice draft. He's been smart and patient waiting to cash in that KD ticket. Gansey is young and seems to be a great scorer for him. He is expecting to have a stud in a couple years but also has enough cap space for 2 maxes next season. His franchise looks to be in nice shape at the moment.
