An absolute stud inside, Issel scored more than 30ppg to lead Kentucky to an SEC title. He bull-dozed his way to those baskets inside, but will need to add countermoves to score as well in the pros. What really sets Issel apart from the bigs in this class is his jump shooting, even taking three point shots, while still maintaining very good production on the offensive glass. He is seriously deficient in footspeed, compared with his peers, and while that didn't stop his scoring prowess he has real difficulty getting in position for shot blocks. When he can square up his opponent he's very sturdy in the post, but defensive counting stats won't ever be his forte, as scouts don't see much potential for growth.
