A real unknown player a year ago, Johnson made waves at Pepperdine last season and flashed some real exciting potential for the years to come. His game is certainly unpolished, but he is an attacking/scoring point guard. He has only operated in a him-first system so far, so his passing acumen isn't great and his handling isn't much better. His jumpshot, both midrange and from deep, has a big hitch in it that needs to be worked out ASAP. Defensively, he plays like he does on offense... lots of gambling, which leads to lots of steals, and he harnesses his plus leaping well for eye popping numbers of blocks. The same athleticism and lack of competition has left his post game and finishing underdeveloped, but even the sky may not limit a high character player like Johnson going forward.
