Adjust Free Agency Schedule (283 views)

Current FA schedule:

Day 1 of FA = IRL Early Day 1
Day 2/3 of FA = IRL Early Day 2
Day 4 of FA = IRL Late Day 2
Day 5 of FA = IRL Early Day 3

Proposed Change:

Day 1 of FA = IRL Early Day 1
Day 2/3 of FA = IRL Late Day 1
Day 4 of FA = IRL Early Day 2
Day 5 of FA = IRL Late Day 2

TC would then theoretically run late day 2, and preseason would run early day 3. That'd only give folks about 16-18 hours to submit their preseason DCs after FA completes and TC is run.

I don't feel that 24 hours is necessary between any two periods of FA, but others may feel otherwise.

We'd also need to consider the Post-TC signing implications. Currently those are run IRL late day 3, so we'd need to adjust those to be completed before IRL early day 3 when preseason would be run in this scenario.

I like it. But I’d need it to be implemented at least 5 years down the road. I built my team based on it.

Suggestion regarding Post-TC Signings:

We initially put a lock on these so that they didn't open immediately after TC was run. There were fewer GMs, so very good players were making it through all of FA then being signed to MLEs and LLEs that were being extended. This left some elite players on very cheap 3-year deals.

With more GMs and no ability to extend an MLE/LLE that is not signed in free agency, I think we can turn this back into a mad dash where it's available immediately following TC.

I think the current schedule is solid. Dont see a reason to really mess with it. But I would be good with whatever everyone else and eric want to do.

I think I'd rather have 4/5 done together so:

Day 1 - early day 1
Day 2/3 - early day 2
Day 4/5 - late day 2

I was super busy yesterday but there is no way I could have gotten bids in for 2/3 between like 1:30 PM and 8 PM so I hesitate to put 1 and 2/3 on the same irl day.

the reason we split day 4 and day 5 is in 5.0 the software did a ton of signings on days 1 2 4 5 but barely any on day 3. we'll see how it goes in 6.0 but so far the day 3 drought is alive and well

another thing i wanted to mention re: post-TC rush is that since signings were delayed until 8 pm after TC it technically wouldn't change anything if we did a night day 5 sim, the signing window would still open at 8 pm, it would just be a lot closer to TC

I don’t personally see an issue with the current schedule but be good with whatever.

I do think cutting down the Draft would be nice.

If we didn’t do Eric’s suggestion maybe the draft started in the evening after playoffs?
