A truly prolific scorer, George Gervin is capable of turning even the most difficult and acrobatic shots into things of beauty. He has beautiful form on his jumper and is able to attack the lane with a finesse rarely seen from perimeter players, converting hook shots and floaters over players much taller than he is.
A deceptively good athlete, Gervin's quickness and leaping ability allow him to score against all manner of defenders. He excels in a fast-paced game that sees numerous possessions as, once he gets hot, there's no turning back. This leads to extremely high usage at both ends of the floor and, while he isn't a positionally fantastic defender, his vertical explosiveness makes him an excellent shot blocker. It remains to be seen if a likely slower pace at the next level leads to a high volume of defensive counting stats, but he should see a few no matter what.
Despite not being much of a passer, Gervin still sees a few turnovers because he has the ball in his hands so much, pushes the pace, and loves to shoot often. His teammates typically defer to him and there's no question that he'll be the number one scoring option for his team at the next level. While he's not overly strong, that hasn't hindered him in the past as he's capable of scoring from within 18 feet in a variety of different ways, but he needs work from the three point line. He was undersized for most of his high school years, which forced him to develop a game that couldn't be predicated just on athleticism and being bigger than everyone else like so many elite players are able to do. He wasn't much of a rebounder during those undersized years and, even with the growth spurt, cleaning the glass hasn't seemed to come naturally to him.
