The pioneer of the alley-oop dunk, David Thompson's nickname "Skywalker" is well-earned. He's one of the best leapers we've seen in years, but the rest of his game is exceptional as well.
At this point in his career, Thompson does a little bit of most things - blocking shots, generating steals, generating assists - and a lot of one thing - scoring. In addition to his leaping ability, he shows an uncanny ability to slash to the rim and convert inside despite his relatively slim stature. He hits from the mid-range consistently as well, though he's shown almost no ability to extend that range to the three-point line.
Thompson is only an average rebounder - better on the offensive end than the defensive end - but it's unlikely that he's going to be a double-double machine. He needs to add a bit of strength to his slight frame to be as effective at the next level, and scouts will want to see him tighten up his handles as he can sometimes lose control when fighting through traffic.
He's very well-developed to this point, and Thompson doesn't have much potential for growth.
