Easily the best wing defender in this draft class, Bobby Jones made his North Carolina coaches fall in love because he was so willing to do all of the things that coaches typically have trouble getting their players to do. He blocks shots, tips passes, moves well without the ball, hustles back on defense, and is more than willing to sacrifice his own shot to set up his teammates.
While he only possesses an average jump shot, Jones does manage to contribute a few points in the paint on most nights. The biggest problem coaches had was him deferring to his teammates too much, as he's a very strong finisher inside but only takes 10-12 shots per game. Still, when you talk about Bobby Jones, it's on defense. He's fantastic in every aspect - blocking shots, on- and off-ball defense, generating steals - and works extremely hard to influence the game when the ball isn't in his hands. His effort and intelligence cover him on defense but his lack of vertical explosion holds him back on the boards.
Aside from his subpar jump shot, Jones also isn't going to shoot from range at all. He isn't the strongest guy in the world either, which could hamper him even further offensively at the next level. He also sometimes frustrates scouts when he chooses to pass rather than settle for an open look, leading to some questionable turnovers.
As gifted as he is in different areas, Jones has admitted that the game of basketball just isn't his biggest passion. As a result, scouts question his overall ceiling, despite how hard he works.
