George McGinnis will be one of the most unique players to enter TMBSL in some time. Scouts have called him a point guard trapped in a power forward's body as, for as long as anyone can remember, the offense has run through him. He's relentless in every aspect of the game and plays with incredible energy that allows him to fill up the box score every night (except on defense).
First and foremost, you can almost guarantee a double-double every night; McGinnis is decent on the defensive glass and a monster getting his own and teammates' misses. He loves to shoot often, though his efficiency there has only been average. His jumper is pretty polished for a big man, but his athleticism has allowed him to dominate in both high school and college, leading to a somewhat unrefined post game. He's almost a guarantee to grab at least 12 rebounds every time he steps on the court, which will usually be the other portion of the double-double. Not always though, as he loves setting up his teammates and will certainly have nights where he gets 10+ assists.
What scouts don't like is that sometimes his turnovers creep up near the double digits as well. It's not a huge surprise considering his usage, but even with that taken into account, you never want to see a player exceeding three or four TOs per game regularly, which McGinnis does. And as much as he exerts himself offensively, he just isn't that focused on defense. He'll rack up a fair number of steals, but ignores blocks almost entirely to instead position himself for rebounds.
McGinnis is a fascinating prospect and with only one year of college under his belt, there should be room for growth.
