Hello and welcome to the first GM Rankings of 6.0! We had a total of 16 participants who ranked 29 GMs + 1 commissioner. Scores listed next to each name are an average of all scores that were submitted with any decimals rounded to the nearest whole number. Italics below are comments that were provided about that GM. The order of the comments has been randomized and some GMs elected not to leave any comments at all.

I really like what the Lakers have done. His team is devoid of elite talent but he holds a ton of future draft capital.
had one not so great experience regarding a trade with Twind, but it wasn't a big deal. Outside of that I don't know much about the guy, seems alright

like yawn, I haven't had much interaction with duc. hope that changes in the future. I know he's been around for a while but I think he mostly lays low. Hope to get to know him better in the 6th iteration of TMBSL

Not convinced he can be sustainably great on the court, but he's doing his job and that's more than some can say. Fantastic person, just not around enough.
Good guy but I honestly forgot he was in 6.0. I know his work doesn't give him much time to participate the way some others can.

duc is a very nice guy who means well, but he doesn't really hang out nor does he really ever seem to do much w/his team. that's his prerogative of course, but it's not going to earn a high ranking
Haven't seen him do much as a GM, rarely sticks around, not in Shout much
duc is back again and I'm sure that won't be the last time I say that I'm 6.0.

Mike is a nice guy, but his team looks rough. His first round creation pick looks bad. Only positive is the fact he has all his picks.

Seems like a good guy and is catching on to GMing quickly
this guy is starting to grow on me. i like the vibe he brings to the league.
made some good picks in the creation draft and has built a decent team, participates in mafia and other things on the board. Just need to see him prove it over a longer period of time to get a better grade.

Not sure what he'll really be like in team-building at all. His schtick is already a little old. Who still has signatures on message boards? Is this 2003? But aside from the Discord kerfuffle, he seems fine.

I want to bump him up for participation in pods, but his participation just demonstrated how little he understands about sim.
from what I've seen so far Chap is an interesting dude, he seems to be engaged thus far. I haven't tried to trade with him yet but I like what he's brought to the league with he and JZ's pod.

Don't know much about him outside of the Mafia games.
Egg could be more active, but when looking at others he's not at the bottom of the barrel. He hasn't added as much to 6.0 as he did in 5.0 but we'll see if that continues.

I'm torn with this one because at one point in 5.0 he seemed like he was really enjoying it and he was very active. I feel like he has lost interest and dropped off a little bit. I hope he sticks around.
Solid contributor, jumped in with gusto at the end of 5.0 to learn the ropes. Need to see a consistent vision and product.

activity level isn't as high as a lot of others, seems to dislike a lot of the league based on his recent shout comments. When I was in the league before he was pretty new, so I am interested to see how strong he is at building teams.

mediocre results wise in sim, but extremely fun guy to have in the league. One of my favorite shouters and TMBSL is much better with an active yawn in the league. Funny dude. Love his activity level so far in 6.0

good GM/owner but can be a bitch to try to finalize a deal with him
good personality for the league, always active and always causes drama. He is a really good guy and a pretty good GM, but he doesn't consistently have good teams like some of the elite guys. He can build a contender, but he won't always be one.
oh boy. What can be said about Bankz that hasn't already been said? Overall, I think he could calm down a bit.
Outside of one mafia game, Bankz is fine. GM skills may be rusty, but he's active and looking to improve the league and settle back in after a long lay-off.
Great guy. Would be an easy 5 if he had an ounce of GM'ing ability. Maybe he can get lucky in the 3003 draft and get someone like Swaggy P.

Another solid gm that's been here a while, always a pleasure to work on deals with him, even though they can be tough to get done. I enjoy his pods with Druce, but I think he should step up and contribute more in those. Always provides his opinions and thoughts on how things should be run, which is appreciated

Difficult to trade with in the past, but a flurry of activity in the past few days suggests that may be changing. Asks about long-established rules and practices far too often for the league's longest consecutively-tenured GM.

Idk. I guess he's grown on me a little. Still average as a GM I'd say.

Haven't seen him build any great teams when I have been around so he still needs to prove that to me. Seems like he is an intelligent guy, but can be very annoying and abrasive. Definitely thinks very highly of himself. Seems to be toned down in 6.0 compared to when I was last in the league with him, though.

torn on how to rate jz, he is what he is, he has the widest spectrum of contributions to the league only because he provides a lot of negatives as well as positives to the league, I'd like to say he's a net positive but not by much
BK is a solid contributor to the league when he isn't blaming eric or others for his foolishness. That hasn't happened yet, so I'm giving him a 3. Still hasn't proven to be a consistent GM for team building.
He's active, but I'm not sure that's a positive.
I for one enjoy his personality. It's all over the place and just the kind of wildcard this league needs.

seems like the closest comp to eric the GM, pretty straight forward guy. I appreciate what he's done as a commish to keep things going, trade talks have been good with him, shout convos are good, I have nothing to complain about

TMBSL historian and wingstop connoisseur. Ian knows what he is doing and knows his way around sim, but it hasn't translated to sim championships in a long time. He needs to prove he still has what it takes to get a better grade. Glad he is in the league even if he is annoying at times.
Seems to be a ship lost in the night screaming into the heavens.
Team doenst look good and a couple long, big contracts to figure out. Has full future assets to hopefully can use those wisely.
I've grown to like ian even though he takes everything literally. Solid gm
14. Heebs - 3.467

probably more of a 2 as far as being a GM goes, but point bump for his neighbor's fat ass.
heebs is very smart, but tends to think he's better than most. If I had to guess he's a ND fan.

one of the easier people in any sim/fantasy league to deal with, prompt with replies and doesn’t dilly dally in negotiations
builds competitive teams
Not afraid to go after what he wants, proven that he can win in a full-league. Witty and sharp.
calculated, well thought out moves as a gm, enjoy him as a pot stirrer and antagonist when he plays that role, one of my personal favorite GMs
just traded for 1.1 and thats probably the best move so far. a bit of an older team that likely isnt winning a title. If he hits on the 1.1 then this score could go up quickly.
Good GM; would be a 9 on the 1-5 scale if we were ranking people according to how insecure they feel in eric's shadow

Can build a good squad, is fun to have in shout and in the league.
Another good gm that is active and responsive, was able to work out a deal with him recently and it was pretty straight forward. Seems like a good dude
Not sure what to say, I don't know him well enough. Maybe that's on me. Doesn't have a long track record of building winners that I'm aware of.
He's always acting super fuckin sus, gotta knock him a point.
one of my league favorites. think we'd be great friends if we were to meet/hang out. glad to have him back
No idea if he's any good as a GM or as a person; shows up in Shout but never seems to offer anything of substance
Weirdly quiet period from Trofie. I would have expected him and Dirt to have traded superstars between each other 4 times by the trade deadline. Hope everything is OK.

Funny/smart dude, but falls in that same category as yawn, but a better as a GM.
been out of the game a long time so we'll see where he stacks up now days, generally a good guy but can get arrogant at times for no apparent reason

Stronger in shout than as a winner... but he's competent. Will be interesting to see how he handles controlling the best player in the league going forward.
seems like a smart guy, but may believe he's smarter than he actually is. From my limited interactions he's a salesman, knows how to focus on what he's giving up in a deal, which can make deals tough. based on shout and maf, he's engaged which is great

Very overrated as a tactical GM. Very funny to have around TMBSL though.

seems to have turned the corner into being more consistently successful, has found his niche and his strategy and makes it work. A little volatile personality wise at times, but overall good dude.
Firm in his team building, pretty easy to trade with, sometimes derails the league in Shout for no good reason
Not a great GM but overall a good presence; not always the most cooperative
has adjusted his approach impressively
A lot of the time I don't "get" him or what he's doing exactly. Very hot and cold for me both Sim wise and shout wise
You cannot hang fracs in from the rafters

strong early returns on his team and building strategy. Title favorite and thats all you can hope for. Also nice to have one of the top players in the league.
built a super team so his 6.0 grade should be higher but this is a whole grade.
I enjoy having odin around in the league and out, he's a good dude and an open book. he has done a lot for the league and who knows if TMBSL would be here without him
probably closer to a four if you count 5.0 but I wasn't around for that. Has done a lot for the league in his tenure but can also be a headache at times.

above average gm
kind of in that heebs-zone as a GM. Very strong and builds great teams, they don't always make it into the elite range and take the final step. He has really matured over the years of sim and is very enjoyable to be around. Good asset for the league.
Good GM, good guy, generally doesn't care for bitching, which is a plus

another top seed in the west and a GM who was aggressive. No future assets but he does have some good younger talent. I trust Druce can re-work his team on the fly if he needs.

He's on the cusp of a 3 and 4 based on the average of his efforts with the Grizzlies and the Blazers. Bumped him to a 4 based on the creation draft and faith that he knows what he'll do long term with the Blazers roster.
controversial at times but a good gm to have around and a big contributor when you consider the podcast. Druce is pretty much always competitive and always going for it. I look forward to continuing
I vacillate on him more than anyone else on the list. He's either a great GM who is software-unlucky or he's merely good and over-performs sometimes. I settled on 4 instead of 3, I guess.

Good guy, good shout presence, lots of content; still has something to prove as a GM
a GM that checks all the boxes - engaged, responsive, nice guy, tries to win, contributes countless article, carried a board job all thru 5.0, and even does pods now

a lot of the moves he makes are head scratchers to me, good dude though we butt heads from time to time

above average gm 4 is perfect rating for him. needs to put it all together for a stretch, only wins fluky titles

good 6.0 . Hopefully his 6.0 team fares better in the finals than he did on jeopardy
intelligent, good GM who seems to be pretty successful. Seems like he is more cautious and has a tendency to get more locked into the guys currently on his team, but there is nothing wrong with that. Good personality, gets along with almost everyone.

the best at making trades, the best at turning over a roster. Very active GM who usually does what it takes to have a strong team. His disdain for the advanced stats and software information available to us might hold him back slightly in 6.0, remains to be seen. So far, hasn't been a problem at all. Enjoyable personality and friendly dude.
solid guy, solid gm, does what odin does except maybe a little better as far as wheeling and dealing
Not sure about him as a GM, early signs show he doesn't like sticking to a plan, which makes for an active trade market; complains a lot

hard to keep up with all the trading and moving Dirt has done so far. Have to give him credit though. One of the better teams and still holding some future assets.

6. Wardunn - 4.267

talented, consistent GM. gets along with almost everyone. Isn't the most active in shout, but has dynamite drop ins from time to time. Know what you are going to get with ward and a reasonable guy overall.
best gm in sim league history
I think Ward is the best pure GM we have. He is easy to deal with, but also not a pushover. He has a pretty unique team-building style and sticks to it. Wish he were around more, but overall his GMing lands him a '5' spot alone.
top tier gm, would like to see him more involved in shout etc.
I think he's going to be a juggernaut by 3004.
Seems fine. I don't like how his name reminds me of Auburn University.
solid guy who is good to have in any league. A realistic fsu fan which i didn't think existed much like the G spot.
Great gm, don't know much about him outside of that as he doesn't contribute a ton outside of his rings, but he's always around and will respond to any trade offers which is good.

Ward has always been a godo GM so I expect him to work some magic over the next 1-2 years. Currently his team is bad but he has no contract on the books for next year. Add in some additional future assets and I think he could quickly build a good team.

Good guy and seems to be an above average GM; generally brings a calm and reasonable perspective
took a safe approach to the start of 6.0. has a young stud and some cap flexibility. holding all his future assets. Good, steady approach so far.

a re-enthused 20s is one of the biggest wins for 6.0. He's very active and brings experience as a commish and GM that is much needed. Doesn't rock the boat, which I appreciate.

has contributed a lot to the history of the league, i like having him around, playing mafia, in shout etc.

I have really enjoyed having 20s back in TMBSL - he's been great in all aspects, active in shout, mafia player, written thoughtful and original articles, and he's contributed in a lot of the rule change discussions with good insights. Looking forward to many futures seasons with this GM

intelligent guy who knows what he is doing as a GM. seems to be pretty successful. Probably in the tier just below elite as a GM, but I don't know for sure after being gone so long. I enjoy him as a person, as well.
top tier, easy to deal with
One of the best, IMO. He is open and willing to trade and isn't one to attempt to "win" a trade. Great shouter, great all around. One of the best at using lesser-heralded players to fill roles on his team.
Has a good roster and plays mafia with us, that's chill.
Too often the bridesmaid and not the bride. Grats JHB.

I dont know enough about your team building skills to rate you higher or lower. If it's anything like your bench press #'s you should be lower. Boom roasted
another very engaged GM that works hard at winning and helps out the league as a whole - he's very responsive, easy to trade with and a good dude.

From what I understand he is literally a robot designed to run basketball simulations. Pray that the governments of this world doesn't get this tech and use it for evil.

Eric has been awesome and I dont think we will find a better commish. Only brought down a tad by his stubbornness
the most consistent commish we've had, but lacks commen sense
overall the best commissioner we have had even though his rigidity on certain issues drives me wild, still had to give a 5 for the overall body of work
consistent, fair, and provides enjoyable commentary in shout.
Would be a 4.5 or 4.75 for me if we could do fractional. Almost perfect as a commish but his lack of nuance and common sense on certain situations will always be is achilles heel.

I dont remember tim but I've heard he's had good 5.0 teams. He appears to be a smartass in shout. I like that
Good guy, great gm, smart dude who knows what he's talking about. I appreciate what he's done for the league and his continued contributions with pods and articles. Trading has always been pretty straight forward with Tim and I really don't have anything bad to say about the guy.
Has shown the ability and dedication to be a consistent winner. Took the wait and see approach for 6.0 Creation. Adds a ton of content to the league. One of the most affable GMs we have.

this is based on what I saw his success being in 5.0, and his overall personality and contributions to the league. He does a lot of work for the league, has a sense of humor, and is friendly to everyone except Boyd. He dominated 5.0 so I am rewarding him for that and assume he will be successful as a GM in 6.0, as well.

above average gm. this could easily be a 5 in a year or two
probably the best gm in the league. Just don't tell him that because his head is already to big.
I recall interacting with soup a lot in past iterations but I feel like I'm really enjoying him more here in 6.0 than ever before, could be because I am more active now. Nothing bad to say about him, soup comes off as very genuine, good human being. He has been a big contibutor thus far and I'm looking forward to what he brings to the table next

Chicken corn Soup is the best, I like it thick, chunky, hot. Has a good roster.
Proven winner, commish. Fits of passion are his thing, which is irritating sometimes and the only thing keeping him from being a '5'
great GM, fantastic activity level, and very nice and friendly dude. Contributes a ton of content to the league via podcasts and articles, always willing to help someone out. Talented GM who builds great teams. His stubbornness almost cost us a great guy to have in the league, glad he stuck it out!
