1. Do you think Eric has some sort of alarm or bat signal that goes off everytime Lebron is mentioned? It seems like whenever the Bron is OP is brought up Eric is a mere seconds behind with made up stats to shoot down the thought.
20's -Maybe, idk. I do think LeBron is obviously very special and the best player in the league, but I feel like LeBron being the only reason the Mavs are so dominant is a little overplayed. Huckaby is a stud and so is Dwight. Dirt has done a great job surrounding LeBron (which of course is a great building block).
Heebs -No. I think he has a script that auto replies when it is mentioned.
Druce -Yes, absolutely. He's so tech savvy I wouldn't be surprised if he has an algorithm with canned responses and stats. Fuck the Lebron era in every iteration of sim, it is easily the worst period of sim time there is.
Sap- I found that odd last night as well. I am willing to bet there is something that he has set up that pings whenever LeBron is mentioned. It is uncanny. I also found it quite funny to say or ask, who thinks LeBron is even the best player on the Mavs. As if there is any question.
Kc -I could definitely see Eric having some spyware on the site that pings him of any keywords being used to hop on swiftly out of no-where.
Trofie - I thought so initially but Heebs answer makes so much sense.
2. How good do you think Lebron is? How would he do on a team not surrounded by other Greats? What kind of pick package do you think would have to be made to get him from Dirt? Is that even possible?
20's- I think LeBron is very very good and clearly the best player in the league right now. I am sure he would make nearly any team a contender, but he isn't winning title after title like the Mavs are if he isn't surrounded by two of the best 5 other players in the league as well. If LeBron was on the Cougars instead of Bell or the Grizzlies instead of Bird, I don't think those teams are winning championships more than 50% of the time and he would still be surrounded by some pretty decent cores. It seems like dirt is getting a little antsy/bored of his current core so I could potentially see him making a LeBron deal for cheaper than usual at some point, but I will answer this question in what 'fair value' it would take.
I'd say it would probably take two 1.1s as a pick package to pry LeBron away and that doesn't seem very possible. It would be tough to acquire two 1.1s in a 5 season time period and if someone has both, are they going to be willing to move both for a somewhat aged LeBron at that point? It would likely be worth it, just don't know if I could see it happening. And who knows if dirt actually moves him for two 1.1s.
Heebs - The best player of 6.0 so far. It's really sad he is in the same league with MJ and they have such disparate careers. Really shows you the bias ingrained in both the software and in the draft builder. Like I get that Lebron's athleticism is elite - but so was MJ's. The fact that MJ's potential wasn't 100 is criminal. CRIMINAL!
He would make any team a contender. Put him on any other playoff team and they are more likely than not (i.e., .500+ FRACS) to win the title every year. Dirt has done a good job at surrounding him, but some of those players look a lot better playing with Lebron than they would playing on other teams.
Druce -I think he's easily the best player in the league and everyone around him is exponentially better. We saw this in 5.0 that players would be great with Bron and then get traded for top picks and be middling players after leaving him. I don't think the pick package exists, partially because of the drafts we have coming up. Dirt would be foolish to break up his big 3 and theres not a god damn thing any of us can do to over take them
Sap - This is the question I asked last night. Mind you I did a very poor job of asking it. With the playoffs being RNG, it is possible that they do not win every year, however more often than not they will win. I am willing to bet you could pair him with one other good player and he would win more often than not. Take Kareem off of my team, take Price off of my team and I am willing to bet my team would win. I also do not think there is any offer out there that motivates Dirt to move him.
Kc -Lebron is without doubt the goat. Without LeBron I think the Mavs still make deep runs but they are not 4x champs at this point. I don't think Lebron could carry a team of scrubs to the finals but i think he is at the very least guaranteeing a playoff birth for any of our current teams. For Dirt to move Lebron i think its minimum 3 top 3 picks.
Trofie- By far and away the best player. He does it all. He would be even more impressive if not surrounded by other great players. You put him on the Cougars with the other no shoot players and he'd set Nick Diaz type records. I don't think there is any chance dirt trades him which shows just how OP he is if even Dirt won't trade
3. The wheel is random but we know the picks going forward and who will have that #1 slot. Some drafts just aren't that great. I think it would be cool that instead of the draft being random the #1 pick selects the draft five years out. Tell me how good this idea is.
20's- Are you saying whoever has 1.1 gets to choose which draft class it is? I don't like this idea because then the order in which you get your 1.1 is very important. For example, the 3001 draft class would have been LeBron, 3002 would have been Kareem, etc until all of the best players/classes had been taken. It just shifts the randomness/luck from the random order of drafts to the random order of when you get a 1.1 and I feel like that is even more unfair.
Heebs - I don't like that idea because you'd get some shady backroom deals. So not great, Bob/Trof.
Druce -Thats interesting but ultimately fucks people later on down the line. I think making classes more even at the top is the solution and something I'd like to see tried in 7.0. What I'm talking about is taking say the top 150 players in ws/48 of all time with a min number of minutes played and serpentine them into 50 draft classes as the top 3 players in said class.
Sap - That IS an interesting idea. I think the current set up sucks. I understand the thought process behind it all. However, getting your 1.1 in a draft year that is just awful is literally the worst. You wait and wait and wait and then get delt a shit draft. Meanwhile you then no longer have an asset that is worth trading as the league is smart and knows what years are good and what aren’t. I think this leads to a bigger issue right now. The majority or GM’s have been doing this a long time and there is little guess work anymore.
Kc- I love the idea. I know that wont be the consensus here but you have my vote to roll it out. But the question I have is how many good drafts do we really have left at this point?
Trofie- Wow this is a great idea.
4. If you could send Lebron to any gm to fuck up his career who would it be and why?
20's- Kingb4yah because it would be the most entertaining. It would probably fuck up his career but it would also be an experiment to see how bad he could make him. I wouldn't be surprised if he toyed around with LeBron coming off the bench some since he gave up his 1.2 for Freeman Williams and then didn't even start him always.
Heebs - Fecta, duh.
Druce -Watching King try to build a team around Lebron would be pretty entertaining, especially when he ends up not starting Lebron.
Sap -So if we are counting on the GM ruining him I would probably send him to king. Not sure why but king just cant seem to be getting the hang of it. His offers blow my mind along with the way he does and does NOT do things. It is almost as if he is playing the long game and the long troll. Either way I am here for it and think king is one of the best things to have happened to the league.
Kc-King gets the king! we may not ever see LeBron on a DC again!
Trofie - Plenty of options here but I'm going with Fecta as I don't think King could even fuck up Lebron.
5.What are your thoughts on the current landscape of college football and how things will evolve moving forward?
20's- I am glad to be in a cool kid conference since Nebraska has sucked for so long. Got really fortunate sneaking into the B1G before the worst stretch in decades happened. Would be feeling pretty uncertain if Nebraska was still in the Big 12 with the recent history. As far as the sport as a whole, I feel like eventually you are going to see the elite conferences/schools break away from everyone else and probably have their own playoff. If money continues to be as uneven as it looks like it will be, it won't really make sense to have all the schools competing in the same group. It will be different but I will still follow it because I like college football.
Heebs - The idea of two major conferences and a playoff system a la the other major American professional sports makes too much sense for a sport that is quickly becoming not amateur. And I'm all for it. I don't want ND to join a conference, but if they do I want them to join the Big 10.
Druce - I think we end up with two major conferences. I can also see the NCAA just not being a thing which would be great. Selfishly I'd like Notre Dame to join the B1G. I think the playoff eventually expands to 8 with both large conferences getting 3 spots with 2 at large.
Sap - I think college football is finally trying to become its “own” thing. Major college football has been its own entity for a long long time. I think we all need to pull the veil back and just call it what it is. It is its own thing and is the largest revenue driver in all of college sports. Just make it a super league and break it into divisions and division winners play and make the playoff. Similar to the Super Bowl.
Kc -I'm not the biggest CFB fan so i dont have much of a valid opinion here. Outside looking in good for them to have a chance to make some money with the NIL. I do think we will see more transfers in the coming years.
Trofie - I love it and hope they do big crossover rivalries with the other dominant conferences. Maybe this will lead/force the SEC to actually play tough games instead of cupcake OOC games. I think its good for the fans of the teams involved in the conferences but terrible if you're a fan of someone at a lower tier school like West Virginia or Kansas.
6. Bk has brought another person to the sim league. Is it bk? Does a Podcast featuring Montreal ever come out?
20's- I don't think it is bk but he obviously has a big influence on montrealdude right now as far as telling him things he should shout, giving his advice on who to take in the expansion draft, who to bid on, etc. Not sure if a podcast ever comes out, but I sure hope it does.
Heebs - I think it's more likely than not BK. If they did a podcast, it would help prove it's not BK. Do it, BK. I'll join.
Druce -I wouldn't be surprised if it's BK, frankly I've grown tired of his schtick and just dont pay attention to him anymore. I dont think he'll pod with Montreal.
Sap - I do not think it is bk however I do think that bk will orchestrate 100% of his moves. He will also use him for horrible trades and take advantage of him, like has done with other GM’s. He will then spin it or attempt to spin it in a way that makes it seem ok. I do think the pod will occur, however there will be no actual way of proving if it really is montrealdude.
Kc- In the beginning I really did think this was BK. However, after seeing the expansion draft pick it makes me think it is not him. I don't think we will ever see a pod because that would end the troll for bk. He loves to have the league speculating over all things bk so once the pod happens we all know montreal isnt bk and the troll is over.
Trofie - its 95% bk , it was a bit he did and now he's too deep forcing people to acquire picks via expansion, and now it won't ever end.
7. Looking back at the sim 20's (years) give me your top 5 gm's and bottom gm's of this period.
20's- Top 5:
1. dirt
2. 20s
3. kc
4. delap
5. TimPig
Bottom 5:
1. kingb4yah
2. fecta
3. pointy
4. chap
5. mike
Heebs - 1. Dirt - built a dynasty
2. 20s - built a dynasty*
3. Tim - Consistently great and sold at the right time
4. Trof - Consistently very good and sold at the right time*
5. Druce - Consistenly very good with seemingly no effort
1. Fecta - simnesis
2. Kingb - who is this dude?
3. Mike - understandable just qualitative judgment
4. BK - will someone PM this motherfucker to quit already?
5. Pointy - Tim, help your friend out.
Druce - I think that in no particular order 20s, KC, Dirt, Ank and Tim have done a good job being consistent contenders. King, fecta, Mike, egg, and chaps exist I guess.
Sap - Bottom 5 (in no particular order): Majic, Sapular, king, yawn, ank Top 5 (in no particular order): 20s, TimPig, KC, Heebs Druce
I think the Majic, Sap, king and yawn picks speak for themselves but I put in Ank because without Kyrie he hasn’t done much and even with him, he didn’t do a ton.
Kc - Top 5-
1. Dirt - 25-29 Finals appearances and dominating the league. Key moves made by dirt and not blowing the roster up in the last 5 years is an accomplishment in itself for dirt. Stay tuned to see if he stays on top for the next 5
years.
2. 20s - 20s has been the dominate team in the east for the most of this decade. 3 Finals appearances with the 1 and only win over dirt. And 4 more Conf Finals appearances. His team is aging but they are still here making
their last push!
3. kc - The rockets winning 2 rings in 23-24 and two more conf finals appearances in 28-29 land them in spot 3. Thanks to trading my franchise was able to stay relevant for over half of this decade.
4. delap - The Raptors tie the Mavs with 5 Finals Appearances! However they were only able to secure one ring in those the almighty West just owned this decade. The raptors end this era in sory of a rebuilding phase but i have
no doubts they will be back around.
5. tim - SEA made 3 back to back to back finals appearances 20-22. They also made Conf Finals appearances in 24-25. Tim has kept his team in the upperhalf for the majority of this decade and ending it with Alabi on his roster
and some more young talent.
hm. ank - Ank had Kyrie's last hoorah in 20. After that he has been working on putting his team back on top. The speculation in shout is that he is now getting Kira to pair with Zion and Mourning and the rest of his solid
roster watch out These moves are what puts Ank at Hm.
Bottom 5-
king - 2 Playoff appearances the least in the league of all GMs that have been here for this decade. His picks just havent panned out yet to get him to the next level.
pointy - 3 playoff appearances here for the Spurs and not really any big moves to make their team better.
mike - due to his situation mike isnt able to manage his franchise like most gms but for that reason it lands him in the bottom 5.
fecta - Fecta has made some moves and done his thing trying to make it furter but it hasnt worked out for him in this decade.
chap - After Melo not getting his +1" Chap exploded and didn't even protect any players from the last 2 expansion drafts. Chap lands in the bottom 5 solely because i'd like to see him come back to old form again.
Trofie- Top
1.Dirt
2.20's
3.KC
4.Druce
5.Tim
Bottom
1.Fecta
2.King
3.Pointy
4.Mike
5.Chaps
8. What is the best thing that happened for your team during that timeframe.
20's- Winning our only championship of 6.0 in 3027. And making our first 3 Finals appearances in 3027, 3028, and 3029.
Heebs - I don't want to answer this question because it will just depress me. Why do I still do this fucking league?
Druce- Trading for Larry Bird so I can be consistently let down in the playoffs.
Sap- Getting lucky with some FA signings. That has actually been the best thing for me period. Most of my drafts have been garbage, however I got lucky with some FA’s. I will say that last years draft was my best draft ever. I have learned a few things finally and gotten lots of advice from different people.
Kc - I would say the best thing that happened for my team would be landing Harry Hough. Without him I don't chase Ferguson or build my team into what it became at all. Hough was the first dominoe to fall.
Trofie - Drafting Charlie Bell and shipping him off so he could win a title.
9. List the 3 best and worst selections of this past draft.
20's- 3 Best:
RJ Barrett - I really like the value of Barrett at 1.2. Already a strong player and a teen with A potential. If he doesn't get the TC of doom, he should be very good.
Ja Morant - He might not pan out, but I like taking big swings for something elite in the draft. He has some skills that are very tough to find in a PG, so if he has the right TCs, he could be a stud.
Isaiah Roby - GBR. Not sure how this stud fell all the way to 1.12 in the draft.
3 Worst:
Sekou Doumbouya - I know he is a teen with A potential and is a gem, but I've seen the scout and struggle to see how he ever is useful with some of his trash attributes. Plus, Roby was still on the board.
Tyler Herro - fecta. He should be fine, but he seems like a lot of other good but not elite SGs that you can find in every draft. Also, fecta.
Bol Bol - fecta. He is a potential strength guy so maybe he grows but he looks like he sucks and I don't have faith in Fecta turning him into anything.
Note: I think Zion is definitely one of the best 3 players in the draft, but I didn't include him in the 'best picks' because it was an obvious 1.1.
Heebs - Best - Jaxson Hayes, Lu Dort, RJ Barrett
Worst - Zion, Herro, Tacko Fall
Druce -A lot of these guys I think it'll depend on TC luck (shocking) but getting Ja at 6 was a steal imo, Clarke could explode and Romeo Langford at the top of the second has a good shot. I think Thybulle was a reach along with Kevin Porter and Jordan Poole. I haven't seen the scouts on any of these guys so I could be way off.
Sap -I think Jaxson Hayes is going to be an absolute MONSTER. I like the Zion pick. Outside of those I had little to no scouts so I will have to go based on gut and I think that Tacko will end up being a good little pick at 1.16. I think Ja, based on noise surrounding him. Not seeing scouts I am not sold on the Herro pick and I think the Porter Jr. pick may end up being a bad pick.
Kc - Best -
RJ Barrett- A definite need for Seatle. Is RJ gets some good TCs He will without a doubt be a top wing
Jaxson Hayes - Love this pick for Tim also. He already has Alabi And i think Hayes really stregnthens his lineup.
Tyler Hero - Hero was a player I would have liked to trade up for. Hopefully fecta upgrades him and we can see him shine in sim league.
Worst -
Ja Morant - Im just not hopeful for Ja to have the TCs he needs to be good. Fingers cross for ya bA but i just dont have faith that its going to happen.
Keldon Johnson - I havent seen many scouts from this draft but just looking at what i have I think i would have rather had Porter Jr or Poole over him, not the worst just one to throw in here as I dont think this draft was that deep anyways.
Sekou Doumbouya - Teen Potential, were defintely better players on the board but I decided I would hop on the TC gamble, hope it works in my favor!
Trofie - Best
Roby
Ja Morant
Keldon Johnson
Worst
Zion
Tacko
Bol
10. Which team wins the most titles in the 30's.
20's- Would feel dumb picking anyone besides the Mavs because you know they probably grab at least a couple early on. And before the Mavs grabbed 4 in the 20s, no other team has won more than 2 titles in a single decade.
Heebs - YOUR Indiana Pacers. BOOM BABY!
Druce - Mavs easy.
Sap - This is easy. The Mavs. The Mavs running away with it. Having any decent player with LeBron gives you the largest advantage. Dirt for the first time today, mentioned he got lucky. It is luck and having him is a cheat code.
Kc-In the 30s I think dirt gets restless blows his roster up but I think Ank pulls this Kira deal off and keeps building. I think we see the Knicks rise and they win 3 out of the next 10 and that will be the leader of the league.
Trofie - I think the Mavs are the easy answer but I'm taking the Pacers(puke) I actually like the roster(don't love Whiteside) but I think they could make some noise with the wings and the Big I should've drafted.
