At this point in his development, Olden Polynice is all potential. He showed signs of putting it together during his final season at Virginia, but his numbers still didn't exactly blow you away. He has great size and, despite only weighing 220 pounds, has exceptional strength. He's a very good athlete but the only place he really showed any sort of developed ability to complement said athleticism was on the offensive end. He scored efficiently down low but, once again, that may be a byproduct of him being more athletic than most of his opponents rather than a developed post game.
To this point, he hasn't been able to put it together defensively or on the glass, showing subpar effort with regards to the former and only average output when it comes to the latter. With his size and strength, you'd expect he could grab all the rebounds he want, but his positioning isn't there yet. While his game is undeveloped, scouts have been pleased to see that the lack of refinement hasn't led to a high number of turnovers.
Polynice is the definition of a high risk, high reward player. His floor could have him out of the league before his rookie contract is up, but his ceiling could make him an all-star.
