Gminski is an intriguing prospect in this draft. He was a four year starter at Duke but is still only 20 years old and three weeks shy of being the youngest player in the draft. His game is fairly polished at this point, but he should still have some significant room to grow and add to his game. That should be exciting for GMs that may find themselves in the position to grab him.
One thing that stands out about Gminski's offensive game is that he might have one of the smoothest strokes in the entire draft class, not even just among bigs. He consistently showed the ability to hit out to 20 feet and had two seasons where he eclipsed 84% from the charity stripe. He showed the ability to make some things happen on the low block, and while he won't force the issue there, those moves should be enough to allow him to continue to threaten opposing teams in the paint at the next level. He was a tenacious offensive rebounder in college and should be able to use those opportunities at the next level to set himself up for some easy buckets as well.
Defensively, Gminski was quite the shot-blocker in Durham. Scouts don't expect him to repeat his college numbers or get close to his 3 blocks a game his senior year at Duke because he's got some bad weight to him and there's concerns about some reverse projection there athletically. The one red flag in this scouting report is that, for a 250 pound man, you'd expect him to be a little stronger. If he can turn that bad weight into muscle and keep his athleticism as he ages, he may continue to block shots like that in TMBSL. Either way, he should be a good defensive player at the next level as he was well coached in Durham.
