As the Sixers came out the gate in the 3000 season clearly the creation moves made by GM bankz seemed to be taking the Sixers in the wrong direction. The idea of punting away prime 1st and 2nd round picks for future draft capital wasn't paying off. After a brief hot run Bankz moved quickly to trade for Bootsy Thornton thinking the volume scoring wing could climb the Sixers out of the hole and into the playoffs. That quickly fizzled out and Bankz moved Bootsy to the land of the Suns. Bankz was candid with us during the press conference to announce the move "We talk a lot about process—not outcome—and trying to consistently take all the best information you can and consistently make good decisions. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, but you reevaluate them all." Fan reaction was mixed to this "process".
Bankz acted quickly during the offseason to scout the upcoming 3001 draft including forming a scouting conglomerate to make sure the mistakes of creation draft weren't repeated. Clearly what scouts revealed pushed Bankz into action with the Sixers trading for the third pick in the draft. Now holding 1.3, 1.4 and 1.10 in the draft the Sixers were primed to make a huge splash. "We believe that this franchise is on the right process and that we will leave the draft with three strong prospects and cornerstones for this franchise". Rumors around the draft swirl as most experts believed Drexler and Ellis would go 1 and 2 in the class. The fans began to believe in a future of twin towers with Sampson and Bol. Bol quickly became the number one prospect in the hearts of the fan base. Come draft day the Blazer surprisingly took Sampson 2nd in the draft leaving Ellis for the Sixers. As the fourth pick was announced the Sixers fan base was a encouraged but also a bit bummed out that Bol was not the pick. As the draft unfolded Bol remained on the board. And then it happened...
"Swap the picks!"
Bol was a Philadelphia 76er and the fanbase was 100% behind #Trust The Process
