One of the most unique prospects to ever enter TMBSL, Zion Williamson possesses a combination of strength and leaping ability that, quite frankly, doesn't make sense. He's fully capable of bullying defenders down low, but can also put the ball on the floor, penetrate, and finish above the rim with the best of them. His footwork and body control resemble that of a guard who might weight 70 pounds less than he does, but somehow he makes it work. It often takes two or three defenders to slow him down and even then, his excellent body control and array of post moves allow him to finish in traffic and/or draw fouls. He shot 68% from the field his lone season at Duke, a testament to his ability to create easy opportunities for himself.
One aspect of Williamson's game that scouts haven't been as impressed with is his shooting ability. He got to the line an impressive 6 times per game, but only managed to convert 64% of his free throws. His mid-range and three-point game aren't much more impressive as he displays somewhat awkward form on his left-handed jumper. Scouts will want to see his shot develop at the next level to remove some of the predictability associated with his game, he also gets himself in trouble trying passes he just doesn't have the ability to make. He sometimes shows poor effort defensively and can get caught out of position, leaving his man open for an easy basket or two. On the glass, he showed impressive acumen in finishing putbacks, but his lack of height does seem to impact his ability to snag defensive rebounds, and his length limits his shot blocking.
We haven't seen a player like Williamson before and, assuming he can keep the weight off, he should have limitless potential.
