Darius GarlandPG6'118620VanderbiltIt's unfortunate that we weren't able to see more of Darius Garland in his one season at Vanderbilt as a knee injury sidelined him for the season after just five games. In those five games, however, he was remarkable as he shot almost 54% from the field and 48% from three. He possesses fantastic speed and shows the ability to finish with either hand at the rim. He keeps defenders honest as he can knock it down from range as well, and showed impeccable form from the free throw line. Garland managed to record more turnovers than assists, and will need lots of practice in both areas, but scouts rave about his work ethic. Garland shows a refined game but isn't the most athletic outside of his speed. He isn't a great jumper and isn't particularly strong. While he's a decent perimeter defender, his lack of size and strength prevents him from lining up on anyone other than opposing point guards and he's unlikely to generate many steals, and forget about rebounds. One of the top point guard prospects in the class, Garland has plenty of room for growth at the next level.
