Tom Gugliotta is a fascinating prospect for a number of reasons. The biggest being that, during his first few years at NC State, he was the team's third or fourth primary scorer. During that time, he was an efficient inside scorer, grabbed rebounds, and had many excited about his potential as a lead man. He primarily played power forward and was thought of as an extremely consistent but unspectacular player.
During his final year, he had the opportunity to be the lead guy and results were...mixed. During that final season he was more of a small forward than a power forward and that saw him taking a ton more mid-range and three-point shots than he ever had before. He was decent from distance, but coaches and scouts wanted to see him attack the basket and try and create his own chances, but his lack of quickness didn't really allow him to do that. He turned the ball over quite a bit more as the primary focus, but if he has some help, this shouldn't be as much of an issue.
As a result, teams see him as more of a power forward in TMBSL, but one who is capable of hitting from distance unlike many of his peers. If the game was played from foul line to foul line he'd be in great shape, his defensive instincts and very quick hands have embarrassed a lot of wing players who thought his low foot speed made him an easy target, but he's been just as embarrassed in the post with his middling shot blocking and rebounding.
If he can convert inside like he did during his earlier years, but with the added element of a deep game, he'll be dangerous. However, limited athleticism and some turnover issues will likely limit his ceiling to a degree.
