Dirt's 3027 TMBSL Mock Draft
1. San Antonio Spurs - Hassan Adams SG 6'4'' 220 23 B, B- C- C, C, A
Adams looks to be the right pick at 1.1 if he's a hidden gem. Has an opportunity to improve with 91 pot and isn't plagued with 4 TO as an OSpecial build. If he can potentially be the next Wagner or even Mason he is the right pick here for Egg. (should have made his age 18 for fun)
2. Carolina Cougars - Paul Millsap PF 6'7'' 250 22 A- C, C, B, B- B
Millsap has the best surface grades by far in this draft. He will never be a defensive stat filler but he could really do some damage on the offensive side of the floor. I think he goes 1.2 here and obviously if upgraded by 20s he will put the upgrades in the right cats. (I'm curious if you put all into jumper/3pt what he could be?)
3. Carolina Cougars - Rudy Gay SF 6'8'' 240 20 B- C+ C, B, C, A
Rudy having A Potential and being a SF could be a saving grace for him. Depending on what his scout is he could be a valuable top pick for a franchise. I think with the right TC he could be upgraded in 2 different ways. He could be pretty stout for an Inside focus team playing SG. But with 20s picking him here he could just as easily become a really good #3 option moving forward in an outside focus team, hell maybe #1 or #2 with the right TC. I think if he has average strength he can thrive in Carolina.
4. Utah Jazz - LaMarcus Aldridge PF 6'11'' 265 21 B+ C, C- C+ C+ B
He doesn’t have any huge flaws on the outside but may lack some jumping and rebounding when it comes to his scout. I would say he’s an easy top 5 pick in this draft. I’m sure he’s not a gem since he didn’t go 1.1. Regardless of B Potential I think you have to take him here. He could be a Jalil Okafor type player for Fason. Big Al and Aldridge could be a really good 1-2 punch down low in Utah.
5. Milwaukee Bucks - Patrick O'Bryant C 7'0'' 250 21 B- C, C, B, C+ A,
I like P.O.B and I think these A Potential bigs can turn out just like Robert Swift. He doesn’t have a broken jumper and should have around 50 SHO give or take already. I think you could just max his SHO his rookie year and then take another look at him the next TC and see where you need to fill him out. If a gem he could be a dang good steal for someone.
6. Cleveland Cavaliers - James White SF 6'7'' 215 24 B, C+ C, C+ C+ B
I'm not sure what Sap is going to do here. I can see him kicking the pick down the road and trying to trade out. Surprisingly, I kind of like James White and taking a close look could possibly be a good player in this league. His Jumper is good enough to dump most of his upgrades into Inside Scoring. Yes, he won’t be a stud rebounder but C+ at SG is still pretty dang good. Depending on scout and gem status I could see him being picked sooner rather than later.
7. Los Angeles Lakers - Kyle Lowry PG 6'1'' 196 21 C, C, B+ A- C, B,
I love Lowry’s rebounding and could potentially be a stout inside offense focused gaurd. He’s already pretty polished and if he has 75 pot he has some room to grow. You could decide to fill him out with steals or go ahead and try and attempt a Jason Kidd type build.
8. Chicago Bulls - P.J. Tucker SF 6'6'' 245 22 B- C+ C- B, C, B,
If PJ can be a hidden gem I think he can be a good inside player. His steals are already solid and you could plug all 40 into inside or a 30 inside, 10 jumper. Could potentially be a A- B- Scorer with some solid steals. You could find worse in some other drafts.
9. Utah Jazz - Daniel Gibson PG 6'2'' 200 21 C,C+ B, C+ C- A,
I always feel like an A potential PG has the best opportunity regardless of age to really improve throughout his rookie contract. He reminds me a bit of Malcom Huckaby but of course could just as easily be a bust. This draft is risky and why not take a risk at a solid A Potential guy like Boobie Gibson with 91 Potential. Fason also doesn't have a PG atm so maybe he takes a flyer on this one instead of Rondo.
10. Texas Chaparrals - Shawne Williams PF 6'10'' 230 21 B- C, C, C+ B- A,
I don't think Cha Chapp will draft a PG here so i'm going with Shawne at 1.10. He's a really good rebounder for an A potential player. Doesn’t turn the ball over at an alarming rate. These Potential guys have a chance just depending on how the dice rolls. Similar builds but not a terrible pick. He could have a T-Ham on his hands this late.
11. Toronto Raptors - Rajon Rondo PG 6'1'' 180 21 C+ C- A, C+ C, A,
Rondo seems broken but then again I’m putting him here thinking he will be the one with 100 potential. I think putting everything into jumper with a hope and a prayer he gets the handle TCs he could actually get some minutes. Also, lets be real with one another, this draft is a little on the weak side. Might as well take a chance on an A pot PG and hope for the best.
12. Atlanta Hawks - Jeremy Richardson SF 6'7'' 185 23 B, C, C, C+ C+ A,
We’ve seen players like Richardson turn out but we’ve also seen them flop. This class is just a crap shoot and just hope and pray you get the guy that has the badass rookie TC. His jumper seems broken so without that improving he may just be another guy.
