A physical freak, Anthony Edwards combines size, strength, and quick-twitch athleticism on the perimeter. He's a terror for defenses when he attacks the rim as he's so strong but also incredibly light on his feet. He draws a ton of contact and is able to make teams pay from the line, where he hit 77% of his attempts last year. He loves to shoot and shows excellent mechanics on his jumper but needs more consistency from the pro three point line. Edwards even showed glimpses as a post-up scorer, something almost unheard of for a freshman guard. His percentages weren't great, but scouts attribute that to the fact that he played on a bad team and was asked to shoot even when facing double-teams. While he projects as a shooting guard in TMBSL, he did play a fair amount of point guard at Georgia as the team tried to get the ball in his hands as much as possible. He's a gambler on the defensive end which leads to a few steals and blocks, but can leave him out of position at times.
Despite all of his gifts, Edwards' basketball IQ leaves something to be desired. He often gets caught asleep at the wheel and gives up a few easy baskets every game. While he's solid on the offensive glass, where he's clearly more focused, he can be a liability on the defensive glass and gives up second chance scoring opportunities to his man with regularity. He's not much of a passer, sporting just a 1:1 assist-to-turnover ratio despite his experience as a lead guard.
Edwards' ceiling is very high, especially if a team can get him to commit on the defensive end.
