Onyeka OkongwuC6'823520USCA terrific rim protector, Onyeka Okongwu is capable of shutting down opposing big men in one-on-one situations or as a help defender. He blocks shots at a level above anyone else in this draft class and scouts expect that to continue at the next level due to his excellent athleticism, which makes up for his lack of height. He's shown the ability to finish with two hands down low and generates a good amount of offense off of putbacks and alley-oops. He's shown a decent ability to knock down free throws, hitting 72% of his attempts from the charity stripe last year. Okongwu was able to get away with some lackluster fundamentals in college due to his athleticism and scouts don't expect he'll contribute much of a post game out of the gate, and a lack of defensive awareness could make him easy prey for pro opponents, saddling him with foul trouble. Much of his scoring in college came off of his own second or third chances as he dominated a soft PAC-12 in the paint. He offers almost no outside shot and is a poor ball-handler, which means he doesn't have much hope of being a creator for himself at the next level. An exceptional athlete, Okongwu should see plenty of growth during his TMBSL career.
