Best Division
1. Midwest – Three of the top GMs in the league. Multiple GMs with multiple titles, one of which had to overcome a toxic mentor. Clearly the best division.
2. Atlantic – Two of the top GMs and a league favorite GM in yawn. Yawn probably makes the difference here between the Atlantic and the Central.
3. Central – Sort of a lesser version of the Atlantic with two very good GMs and another beloved GM in Mike.
4. Pacific – Has some outstanding GMs, but is anchored by BK to the bottom of these rankings.
Best Free Agents by Position
Center
1. Thomas Hamilton – Outstanding two-way big. Obvious FULL IAN MAX player coming off of his rookie contract.
2. Jahlil Okafor – Might be expendable in PIPE TOWN with the addition of Cousins. Some GM might get themselves a great FA at a reasonable price while others use their cap space on Hamilton, Giannis, Hill, or Kidd.
3. Chris Kaman – Had to pick here between Motley and Kaman, but Kaman’s youth put him over the top. Can’t go wrong with Motley, though. He would have been 3b.
Power Forward
1. Juwan Howard – Sort of a weak class, but Howard looks nice. Offensively VERY polished, but could use a little more in the defensive counting stats. Look for him to get a max contract, which might look bad about year 4.
2. Bob Greacen – Bob needs a long term deal, a reset, and +30 inside to be elite. Look for someone with cap space on days 3 through 5 to take a chance and be rewarded.
3. Elvin Hayes – Another Jazz PF shows up on the list. Lesser version of Howard, who is offensively very good, but defensively absent. It’s a weak PF class, so this is like saying that BK is the third best GM in the Pacific. It’s all about context.
Small Forward
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo – Outstanding two-way SF who plays efficiently on the offensive end and is a defensive stopper. Oh, and he’s an elite rebounder. Obvious max player.
2. Grant Hill – Lesser version of Giannis, but a little younger. A little more efficient offensively, but doesn’t shoot enough. He will definitely get a max and as long as he doesn’t fall off a cliff, he’ll be worth it for 6 years.
3. Glenn Robinson – Big dog is hard for me. Yes he is offensively ELITE – but he doesn’t rebound, doesn’t play defense, and doesn’t really to anything on the court except shoot. He is SG eligible, so he’s likely a 12.5m for 7 year kind of guy for Milwaukee.
Shooting Guard
1. Victor Oladipo – Still elite. Still wish he and Larry Bird were on the Pacers. Sigh.
2. Dajuan Wagner – SG is like PF this year. Not a ton of depth. Wagner normally wouldn’t make a list like this given his advanced age, but lack of options and his still elite play give him the second spot.
3. CJ McCollum – See above. McCollum is an MLE at best player. Bad SG class.
Point Guard
1. Jason Kidd – Max player. Very efficient on the offensive side and great defender. Love his game.
2. Dean Oliver – Oliver was relegated to the back up role this off season, but he is still a very, very good option for any team needing a starting PG.
3. Joe Crispin – Another primary ball handler relegated to the bench that could easily start for a lot of TMBSL franchises.
Best Draft Picks So Far
1. John Wall at 1.2 – elite athlete whose two biggest weaknesses (TOs and 3pt shooting) grow the fastest at point guard. He’ll have the ability to develop via TC for a year or two behind Ntilikina before getting upgraded and taking over in Indiana.
2. Jeremy Lin at 1.13 – Great value pick here. A potential PG without any huge holes in his game. Look for him to be a developmental project for Ankly and ultimately be a long-term starter in the Big Apple.
3. Greg Monroe at 1.11 – We didn’t see any scouting reports on Monroe, but notice that his minutes are very low, suggesting he needs a boost to his athletic attributes. With some development to his usage, we like Monroe to become a set-it and forget-it starting PF for years to come.
List of Prospects Remaining That I Like
Larry Sanders – Very strong, great defender.
Dexter Pittman – Efficient scorer, shows promise to develop into a defensive counting stat producer
Samardo Samuels – Similar to Dexter.
Quincy Poindexter – SG-eligible SF with elite inside game and solid outside scoring. Looks like a poor man’s Danny Granger.
Avery Bradley – Very efficient scorer. Excellent defender. Undersized SG and poor rebounder, otherwise he’d be off the board already.
Willie Warren – Poor man’s Quincy Poindexter.
Most Likely To Win the 3026 TMBSL Championship
1. Mavericks – Three words. Le Bron James.
2. Pipers – If they resign Okafor it’s going to be tough for any front court in the east to match up against them.
3. Pacers – They will need to move a wing or two to become elite on the front court, but if they do that they will be outstanding.
4. Sonics – Basically already have what the Pipers want to achieve on the front court with Dwight, Al, and Clemon. They could upgrade the wing position to really put them over the top.
