Rudy GaySF6'825020ConnecticutAn exceptional athlete, Rudy Gay demonstrated a more refined offensive game during his sophomore college season that has scouts drooling over his potential. He showed that he can be a complete offensive player and while the majority of his offense came from the post and on putbacks, he did show that he can hit from mid-range and distance on occasion as well. He's a talented defender as well, racking up 1.3 steals and 1.7 blocks on average during his two collegiate seasons. As a player who came late to the game and wasn't seriously coached until his junior year of high school, he has all the potential to become a dominant player one day. One of the major things holding him back is his unselfishness with the ball. He loves to pass and get his teammates involved, almost to a fault. This leads to a few turnovers and probably fewer shots than his coaches would like to see. Fantastic defensive instincts will still cover up for his athletic limitations at the pro level but he'll need time in the weight room to maximize his defensive potential, and to be even average on the boards.
