Wes JohnsonSF6'721523SyracuseOne of the draft's elder statesmen at 23 years old, Wes Johnson may not have the potential of some of the other players in this class, but he should still be able to contribute in a meaningful way. His quickness and leaping ability allow him to rise above traffic and get to the rim though he hasn't shown much of a developed back-to-the-basket game. A consistent jump shooter across his three college seasons, Johnson showed marked improvement from beyond the arc year to year, jumping from 29% to 33% and capping his college career at 41.5%. Scouts believe that his biggest contributions offensively in the pros will be from the mid-range and outside. Johnson is a bit of a mystery both defensively and on the glass. He looked to be a strong rebounder and defender as a freshman at Iowa State, but saw significant drops in his total rebounds and blocked shots as a sophomore. He transferred to Syracuse and looked more like the player we saw as a freshman, but his lack of strength likely means he won't be anything more than an average rebounder or subpar post defender, but he should be fully capable of handling his man on the perimeter.
