Andrew Toney comes to TMBSL after two seasons as the Southland's Player of the Year and if there is one thing this guy can do it is get buckets. He's an aggressive, slice and dice combo guard who gets into the paint and disrupts opponents' defenses. He has exceptional agility and a crafty floater in the lane that he uses to make up for his lack of length. He also does a good job finishing strong when there is contact to get to the free throw line. He has smooth shot mechanics and should have no problem expanding his game out to the three point line at the next level with his silky shot. One thing he needs to improve on offense is playing more in control, as he has a tendency to throw wild kick-out passes when he gets pinned in the lane.
What we don't know is how his game will translate on the defensive end. He certainly has the athletic ability to stay in front of guys his size, but the problem is he doesn't have the handle to be a point guard at the next level and he'll have to deal with shooting guards that he gives up several inches to. He may be best when paired with a longer PG who can switch up and guard wings while Toney takes the assignment on the opposing point guard. Another unknown will be Toney's ability to create steals and blocked shots, as the Southland Conference didn't really keep those stats during his career and most scouts didn't get to many Southland games to see him in person.
