2023 Trade Rumor Mill: Dirty Style
#1.
Indiana Pacers: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Heebs is just begging for someone to take Giannis. I would trade my 1.1 for him if I could start him. Unfortunately, I have the same problem and already have a SF I have to play at the 3 position. I think he could easily be an all-league SF on a team and is a great piece for a championship caliber team. I mean it’s kind of self explanatory as INDY already has a ring thanks to The Greek Freek.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Dominique Wilkins / 3026 CLE 1st Round Pick (1.7)
Sap is another GM that is just looking for a trade. He’s been actively trying to change things up and possibly trade to add to Nique or even trade him off for more assets. I think a 1.7 is border line starter and a smaller percentage of finding a player of Giannis’ caliber. Yes, this is kind of cheap but compared to the window Sap is at and the age Dominique it makes sense. Nique is kind of a free piece you can trade at lower value. I’m not a huge fan of picking at 1.7 and I think it’s worth dealing it to get a stud Inside style offensive SF. Especially after the upgrades Mo received it defiantly looks like Sap would prefer an inside build.
Reasons why it should happen:
Indy leaps up in the standing with Dominique and it helps give more minutes to the multiple bigs the roster has. I think this gives Indy a 3 year window with Dominique and Larry to get heebs his 2nd title. Yes your trading a good player for a 3 year window but with the way Heebs drafts he could take his 1.7 and 1.2 and still be ready to go once Dominque sours and possibly retires.
When the dust settles, Sap really trades a 1.7 for Giannis. Yes it’s difficult to think that way but in reality he got Dominique for free. This gives Sap more time to draft his players throughout the next 4 years, or he can draft this years 1.2 and decide to flip those other picks. He has a starting PG and SF and should be able to continue to mentor Walton with Giannis’ on his team.
#2.
Texas Chaparrals: Trevor Ariza
Chap has shown interest in a re-build but in today’s climate it’s pretty tough. I think if he was offered a decent deal he would trade his best player in Trevor Ariza. I think he’s at a point in sim where he’s willing to possibly settle on something that makes sense around his 1.1. I believe a top 5 pick could get it done. There may be some other fillers to make it work but the Chaps are in desperate need for a rebuild and believe he’s willing to make some deals.
Portland Trail Blazers: 3026 POR 1st Round Pick (1.5) / Jameer Nelson / Alpha Kaba
I think Portland is looking good at this point and adding some studs through the draft is exactly what they need. But sometimes the draft isn’t very helpful. Yes, his next season pick will be amazing but 1.5 can be a letdown. Hell, even higher picks can turn into just another starter and nothing much more. I think Majic has enough bullets in the chamber to let one loose for a solid double-double wing that can play both positions. The one knock on this roster is rebounding. If he has just one wing that gets 10 he can allow Cliff to play SG and chunk up the 3s with no issue. I just think it makes sense for The Blazers to add a stout 20/10 guy that will get you 2 steals.
Reasons Why it should happen:
Texas adds another draft pick to their collection to go alongside their 1.1 in 5 years. The West is stacked and I think it’s decision that Chap will have to make regardless if he wants to or not.
The Blazers need some rebounding at the wing position. Ariza is great in an inside offense, adds 2 steals and will average a double double. Sometimes these drafts don’t work out so you can itleast get a stud with one of your picks.
#3.
San Antonio Spurs: Bob Miller
Egg is wanting to sell at this moment and this is a time to trade your guy, on an expiring. You never know what could happen. He may pull a Motley and go right back to him. I think Miller is a solid big but doesn’t do so much that you just can’t let him go. He already has several picks and why not have a couple more to try and find the next big thing. The West is so stacked now is a good time to sell off and do a rebuild in a few years. Keep the cap space open for when Wade and LBJ hit FA. He has a 1.1 coming up and that could possibly be Alridge.
Los Angeles Lakers: 3026 CHO 1st Rounder (1.14) / 3027 LAL 1st Rounder (1.7) / 3028 LAL 2nd Rounder (2.4)
I think the Lakers need a big to really make some noise. Why not an A+ scorer that could possibly get one of the bigs SEA has in foul trouble? Yes he’s expiring but Pete doesn’t have any crazy contracts and can easily take on the amount next year. The one issue is he needs a big but doesn’t really have the contracts to match an older player like LaSalle. Miller is a good solid big on a cheap deal, on a deal Pete can match. Pete has several top 10 picks. He can add Miller here then draft 1.8 next year and another 1.8 the year after that. He would be getting Miller on a discounted rate because he’s on a roster that is changing it’s core and of course he's expiring.
Reason Why it should happen:
San Antonio is on a rebuild. He’s really trading a good but not great scorer. He will be adding some picks in the future and opening up cap space because he won’t have to resign Miller. (Unless he wants to and has a chance to get these assets for free).
Pete needs a 3rd big. I think Miller is a good player that Pete can get at a possibly discounted rate and he will have the flexability to move or change his offense moving forward. Mihm/Miller/Chandler is stout.

Vancouver Grizzlies: 2025 SAS 1st Round Pick (1.9) / 2025 VAN 1st Round Pick (1.6)
Druce has a solid team that’s just simply underperforming so far this season. I think if he just added another wing that can bring him solid top tier FG% that could give him a nudge into the playoffs. I’m a firm believer that most of the teams out West have a chance to make the finals. Obviously having the home advantage is nice but we’ve seen crazier. We’ve also seen the frustrations of Druce drafting around these picsk positions. Sometimes it’s pretty bare and holding on to the picks is a bad thing. Adding a solid young prospect is a good idea at this point. You have maybe 2 years left of Ibaka why not use them?
Houston Rockets: Richard Jefferson
The Rockets have a top tier inside scorer on their roster and I'm not really sure how important he is with an A+ outside scorer getting less minutes. I think I could see him pulling the trigger on this to try and re-tool after JPV comes to an end. He may be able to trade his way for another outside type wing for example: CJ McCollum for one of these picks. He may not want to mess with his team but then again he will have to re-tool after this season due to cap issues.
Reasons why it should happen:
The Grizzlies need to add some fire power alongside Forte. Jefferson gives you that with top-of-the-line FG% on a cheap contract. I think this addition adds to his already dynamic inside offensive team. Hedo is good but Jefferson will really help push him into the playoffs.
Rockets are playing amazing this season. I can see him flipping Jefferson for a more outside focus wing. The only reason he traded for Jefferson was because it’s all he could find at the time. He was otc with a 1.5 and really took the best offer. I will say I'd rather have Jefferson than anybody that was available in that draft.

Pittsburgh Pipers – 3024 PIT 1st Round Pick (1.1)
Ba has some time until all his top draft picks hit. Once 3029 comes into effect he will have another top 5 pick. That will give him 1.1/1.6/1.5 from 3026 – 3029. It allows him to continue to stay pat and he gets a better draft class potentially drafting Boogie or Wall. Some wouldn’t think so, but I do think that will be a better draft class.
Dallas Mavericks – 3026 CHO 1st Round Pick (1.1)
I am afraid of losing LBJ and I would prefer to find a top prospect now instead of later. I do think I will get a less valuable player in the 3024 draft but I would rather have him now to go along side LBJ. It would be smarter to stay patient but I'm willing to risk it and only risk it before the scouts are released. I don’t think I would do it after sim 8. I still don’t think I should do it but I'm willing to roll the dice.
Reasons why it should happen:
Ba is getting a better draft class and the only bad side is having more patience. I don’t see a LBJ or Wade looking at the rookie stats. Bias does look good but C pot doesn’t help him as much as it would help someone else that’s ready to compete. An A pot guy in a few more years makes more sense.
I need a guy now not in 3 years. Id rather add a 60 Pot guy to LBJ that can play now at a cheap price and ignore the smart route and focus on the next 4 years.
