Dallas Mavericks' GM Dirt has surprised many by holding true and drafting his first 1.1 since drafting Magic Johnson a melinia ago. Most fans were shocked when Dirt swooped in and traded for a 2nd top 10 pick collecting another High School prospect, Nbudi Ebi at the ninth selection. Reports from Dallas are unsure on Ebi but the friendship between rookies LeBron and Nbudu have blossomed throughout the off-season. They spend their days on the court and their nights out on the town together. The two young athletes are excited for what they can do and are filled with hope they can help Dirt bring home a 2nd title for the community.
I spoke with the Dallas coaches who wish to keep their name out of this, and they are raving over the increase of LBJs inside Scoring. They have worries the off-court partying had a role in them seeing no improvement for LeBron's Free Throw rate from high school. They've seen his strength grow in the weight room but his ability to rebound isn't the same in the nba. The coach explains Rome wasn't built in a day and LeBron and Ebi have maintained their potential regardless of what outside force tells him it hasn't.
GM Dirt explained via conference call, "Ebi still has elite potential left in him. He's grown where he was weakest, he's a better 3pt shooter and has a better Jumpshot. He's as strong as an ox and the ceiling is the roof with this guy. We'd like for him to work on his footwork and to use his body more in the lane. Sometimes the flashy dunk isn't a good thing. Movement and rhythm around the basket is key for Ebi to be successful at this level. I've already shown him tape of Dale Ellis. Coach Pous Alvodo is still undecided on what style of play he wants to run this season. Alvodo spoke briefly at his press conference, " we're young, we will ride the wagon until the wheel falls off, the team is new and adjustments will be made throughout the year, but man im exicited".
Most reporters are annoyed at the constant reminder that new FA signings Apke and Crispin are steals and GM Dirt has already reached out to their agents. He expects them both to resign at 5 mil each next season. I've asked what he sees in the PG, "He's a wolf in sheep's clothing, GM Dirt says in the phone. I'm telling you, Joe C will explode in Dallas. Give him about 15 games and you will realize this is the best off-season I've ever had. What's a story with a prediction? I've been around GM Dirt for 20 years. I've only seen 1 other teams better and that's in 3000. If Ike and Winslow can be the defensive pillars of this team, maybe just maybe, they can collect 50 wins.
