John Salley's back to the basket game isn't that bad but he just doesn't show much desire to score. He's not a very great handler of the ball, but he is extremely quick. Where John excels is blocking shots. His solid post defense is nothing to sneeze at, though he isn't going to defend many people on the perimeter right away at the next level, and hunting for blocks combined with his lack of lower body strength makes his performance on the glass very poor.
