Not terribly tall for a power forward, but has a 7-4 wingspan and good bulk. Makes his living with the ability to score from midrange (FT 88%). Has a decent back to the basket game, hook shot, but not spectacular. He doesn't take many shots from beyond the arc. Not super quick. High basketball IQ and that can pass the ball very well. Servicable at generating turnovers, but not quick enough to be a perimeter defender. Decent blocker for a player who isn't an explosive leaper, thanks to his elite timing and length. Knows how to use his feet to defend the post rather than using brute force alone. Boxes out on every possession to rebound on the defensive end. West is who he is, a strong gritty and smart player who his own team's fans won't terribly enjoy watching but the other team will enjoy playing against even less.
