Shane Battier SF 6-8 220 22 Duke A fundamentally sound player on offense, using his wits to score efficiently inside the paint against more athletic competition. Good from the line, but extremely talented from beyond the arc as a spot up shooter with lots of potential to grow. Extremely good ball handling skills like that of a point guard, while also being unselfish, dishing to a teammate if they are open. Not an extremely talented athlete with only mediocre quickness. Absolutely one of the best defenders to come out of the college ranks in some time, where he can block as well as most bigs and steal as well as the quickest wings. He also plays extremely solid fundamental defense on the perimeter and in the post. A smart guy who gets in position to rebound well, following up his own shot often over more athletic competition, and has a knack for finding the ball on defense. His lack of athleticism extends to the weight room where he is only of average strength, and is a disappointing jumper. Has a lot of potential to find a niche in the league and stay there for a long time.
