Jason Richardson is a 6’6’’ swing man weighing 225 lbs at 20 years of age. Inside scoring is his bread and butter on offense, where he can drive equally with both hands, nimbly avoiding defenders to get to the hoop where he finishes with great efficiency. He’s been working on his outside shot over his career at Michigan State, and it looks to develop well but at this point it still needs work (as evidenced by his 69% FT). Not an advanced ball handler, but adequate. Has the quickness to do good in isolation, but won’t dance with the ball to create for himself or others. Darts into passing lanes to come up with a good variety of steals, and shows good anticipation when blocking shots, which he does from time to time. Doesn’t translate his athleticism as well when it comes to fundamental perimeter or post defense though. Does a good job of cleaning up the glass on the offensive and defensive end of the floor for his position. Possesses a lot of strength, but fails to use it as well as he should, so only plays like a wing of average strength. Absolutely incredible hops that he uses in combination with his inside scoring ability to put on an impressive scoring displays, as well as putting him in position to block shots.
