Notre Dame Monty Williams is an amazing comeback story. He sat out his first couple of years at the Dome due to a heart condition similar to that of Reggie Lewis' and Hank Gathers'. There was the possiblity that he might never play again. However, it turned out that his condition was nowhere near as severe as those two, and he came back with a vengeance. His last couple of years, he was the entirety of the offense as he played on horrible teams. Notre Dame was known to upset some of the top teams, however, and this was mostly because of Monty Williams. Williams is a monster on the offensive glass and won't stop attacking the rim, but years of playing with scrubs has severely stunted the rest of the game. The jumper is middling and he's shown no signs of pro three point range, he doesn't pass much and when he does they're forced highlight reel attempts instead of the simple pass. Spends all his effort on the offensive end and it shows. Not a great one-on-one defender, he will struggle to defend players at the next level but does enjoy a weakside rotation for a block. He is a bit thin for the SF position, but is an adequate leaper. Scouts are pessimistic about his ability to unlearn bad habits even if he ends up with proper coaching.
