Eastern Conference
#1 Carolina Cougars v #8 Pittsburgh Pipers
COUGARS 132, Pipers 120
PIPERS 138, Cougars 102
Cougars 139, PIPERS 131
I think many thought that the Pipers were ready to step it up this year. That did not happen and having limped into a 41-41 record they face the 1 seed again. Ewing missed 25 games this season and finds himself matched up against KAT .You'll see Ricky Pierce trying to score against elite Defender OG. Overall I think this is decently balanced when looking at the rosters, but the Cougars are to strong.
Cougars in 5
#2 New York Knicks v # 7 Chicago Bulls
KNICKS 133, Bulls 113
Knicks 134, BULLS 133
KNICKS 141, Bulls 138
Knicks 133, BULLS 119
The Knicks finished strong and won the division(not hard). The Bulls finished the season on a 10 game losing streak(not good). The Bulls are decently efficient and with Kyrie being out the first 2 games of the series they need to take 2 off the bat. I think they steal one, but in the end the Knicks are a cut above the Bulls
Knicks in 5
#3 Charlotte Bobcats v #6 Cleveland Cavaliers
Bobcats 137, CAVALIERS 128
BOBCATS 127, Cavaliers 120
Cavaliers 113, BOBCATS 110
This just isn't a good matchup for Sap anyway you spin it. The Bobcats are a top 2 team in the league and have superstars everywhere. They kind of got off to a slow start but really came on strong in the 2nd half. The Cavs need to get the Bobs into foul trouble and Fultz needs to drop 30+ everygame.
Bobcats in 4
#4 Toronto Raptors v #5 Indiana Pacers
RAPTORS 139, Pacers 130
RAPTORS 149, Pacers 129
PACERS 112, Raptors 108
Raptors 110, PACERS 106
The Raptors are the favorite here. They have the elite Scorers that the Pacers lack, although I don't like either set of bigs. I think the Pacers are a year away with the Young core from making a splash in the playoffs. This might be Drexlers last ride.
Raptors in 5
#1 Carolina Cougars v #4 Toronto Raptors
COUGARS 143, Raptors 119
COUGARS 120, Raptors 108
Cougars 154, RAPTORS 152
Cougars 144, RAPTORS 131
The Cougs swept the regular season . This is just not a good matchup for the Raptors. What the Raptors do well (score on the wing) plays into the Cougars strength on the defensive end. I don't think the Raptors have with bigs to slow down Kat and I think NVE crushes Bedran
Cougars in 5
#2 New York Knicks v #3 Charlotte Bobcats
KNICKS 129, Bobcats 94
KNICKS 137, Bobcats 92
Knicks 134, BOBCATS 105
In the regular season these matchups weren't close at all which surprised me. You have Elite matchups everywhere. I think I'd take Ibaka/Embiid over the Bobs bigs down low. Dumars is a big win at SG for the Bobs. SF you'd probably go butler even though his career has been underwhelming. At PG you're going Kyrie. This is one of the better 2nd round matchups we've ever seen
Knicks in 7
#1 Carolina Cougars v #2 New York Knicks
KNICKS 135, Cougars 124
Cougars 139, KNICKS 131
COUGARS 134, Knicks 121
Knicks 149, COUGARS 135
The collection of Stars or the complete team? The knicks have the firepower and the Cougars have the specialists. The season was split 2/2 . This one will go 6 or 7 and in the end I'm going to take the collection of Superstars in what may be the last time this collection of Knicks play in the playoffs
Knicks in 7
Western Conference
#1 Los Angeles Lakers v #8 Seattle Supersonics
Lakers 141, SUPERSONICS 128
Lakers 133, SUPERSONICS 105
LAKERS 148, SuperSonics 124
LAKERS 166, SuperSonics 132
Tim has made it known its open season on the Sonics for trades. They snuck into the playoffs and get the reward of playing the Lakers. The Lakers are just too good in this matchup. There is a chance the Sonics get the lakers into foul trouble and Blossom goes off to steal one, but I think that's all they get.
Lakers in 5
#2 Utah Jazz v #7 Phoenix Suns
JAZZ 124, Suns 100
JAZZ 128, Suns 122
SUNS 142, Jazz 122
SUNS 123, Jazz 120
The season series was tight , but when you look at rosters you wouldn't guess that. The Jazz are loaded with talent and the Suns have been the same for a bit with the addition of Tatum. I think the Jazz are going to take this rather easily although the playoff Suns are tricky
Jazz in 5
#3 Anaheim Amigos v #6 Texas Chaparrals
CHAPARRALS 153, Amigos 149
AMIGOS 150, Chaparrals 141
Chaparrals 138, AMIGOS 130
CHAPARRALS 116, Amigos 92
The Chaps won 3 out of 4 against the Migos. Three of the games were rather high scoring. There are some good individual matchups here. Gates and Webster should be a showdown. I think the Bigs are all about even and you got Nigel at PG for the Migos. I think this comes down to 7 games.
Chaps in 7
#4 Vancouver Grizzlies v #5 Milwaukee Bucks
BUCKS 128, Grizzlies 126
Grizzlies 117, BUCKS 110
GRIZZLIES 121, Bucks 98
Bucks 119, GRIZZLIES 111
Series was split. The bucks offered a top 5 pick for Paul A before the season started and were ghosted. He turned out to be a good player for the resurgent Grizz. The bucks will need the bigs to do work down low and Cousy to not be a total loser, which would be quite the feat by itself
Bucks in 7
#1 Los Angeles Lakers vs #5 Milwaukee Bucks
BUCKS 125, Lakers 122
Lakers 145, BUCKS 117
LAKERS 132, Bucks 118
LAKERS 138, Bucks 108
The Bucks haven't faced the Mikanless Lakers yet but I don't think it matters too much. The bucks need Rod Higgins to shut down Nique and hope Wagner doesn't go for 50 on Erikkson. I think the bigs are closeish but the star power on the wings for the Lakers are too much to handle.
Lakers in 5
#2 Utah Jazz v # 6 Texas Chaparrals
Jazz 133, CHAPARRALS 127
JAZZ 140, Chaparrals 126
Chaparrals 156, JAZZ 152
Jazz 132, CHAPARRALS 125
The Jazz took 3 of 4 and I think with the late season additions they are too much for the Chaps to Handle. I don't think Gates can do enough on the offensive end for the Chaps to pull off the upset here.
Jazz in 5
#1 Los Angeles Lakers v #2 Utah Jazz
Lakers 139, JAZZ 120
LAKERS 126, Jazz 116
LAKERS 142, Jazz 136
JAZZ 142, Lakers 120
The lakeshow took 3 of 4 , but the series was split when the new and improved rosters faced off. I think the difference will be JBC down low. He does so much on the defensive end. Wagner/Nique vs Worthy/Beas will be another matchup to watch.
Lakers in 7
Finals
#1 Los Angeles Lakers v #2 New York Knicks
LAKERS 134, Knicks 96
Lakers 134, KNICKS 131
Not a whole lot to say about this matchup as we've seen it before. The Knicks need Kyrie to carry the load on offense and they need Caron to keep it close with Nique. Embiid has a tough matchup down low so they will need Serge to beat the defensively deficient Boozer. Wagner will have his way at SG
Lakers in 6
#1 Carolina Cougars v #8 Pittsburgh Pipers
COUGARS 132, Pipers 120
PIPERS 138, Cougars 102
