Martin has long been considered one of, if not the best, best players to enter the draft the last 2 years. Martin made the unconventional decision to return to college for his 4th and final year. While most scouts disagreed with his decision at the time, the additional development he showed his final year makes him an even better prospect.
Martin has long been known for two things; his freakish athleticism and his impressive rebounding. Standing at only 6’9, most consider him to be a bit undersized for the PF but he makes up for it with his elite athleticism. It doesn't matter who he is guarding or where he is on the court, his elite quickness and jumping ability allow him to make a big impact.
Martin uses his athleticism to be a truly elite rebounder, he may be the best rebounding prospect to enter the league in quite some time. Whether it's on the offensive end, or defensive end he is a beast at snagging boards.
Where he makes the biggest impact though is on the defensive end. He is a versatile defender that can guard almost any position. He uses his quickness to stay in great position and his outstanding jumping ability leads to numerous blocks. He averaged 3.5 blocks per game his last year in college and most scouts expect that impact to carry over.
Offensively Martin showed tremendous growth in college, and he will need to show more of it in the league. He is a bit limited in the moves he can use to score, so he will need to work on adding some more. A Lot of his points come from hustle plays or easy putbacks from crashing the glass, so he needs to be more diverse.
In addition, he will need to put some work in his shooting form. It's not broken by any means, but it's an area he can improve on given how often he gets to the line. Also, he will want to work on his upper body strength. His athleticism helps him against bigger opponents but it wont hurt him to get a bit stronger as well.
Martin will be an immediate impact player if only for his rebounding and defense. How his ceiling is will be determined by how well his offensive game improves. He showed outstanding growth in college, especially his senior year, on the offensive end so the potential is there.
