J.R. Smith SG 6-6 225 18 Saint Benedict's Prep School
Fresh out of high school, J.R. Smith will likely take a few years to develop before becoming a solid rotational piece in the big leagues, however his potential to do that is unparalleled among perimeter players in this class. While J.R. showed a fairly complete offensive game, he mostly used his size and above average strength/explosiveness to muscle his way to rim, which will fall short in the modern TMBSL game. When not using his excellent lateral quickness and tight handles to shake his way to the rim for an easy layup, he is chucking it from deep. Over 60% of his shots came from beyond 16 feet, showing off a silky smooth stroke continuously.
Despite all the athleticism and physical tools to be a great defender, J.R. never displayed the willingness to play strong defense consistently against his competition at the high school level. His lack of willingness also shows up on the boards as well, where you would expect above average production based on his size/athleticism, you'll merely get positionally average production on the glass at both sides of the court.
