The well travelled Bennett hails from the country up north where basketball is a distant past time to the old puck and stick. Basketball was always his true love but it's easy to see how the game of hockey has influenced his overall style as he is tough as nails to play against.
While he isn't the tallest big man you will come across, Bennett is a physical specimen. He has an impressive 7’2 wingspace, broad shoulders and explosiveness that allows him to dunk on almost any player. Even when matched up against bigger and stronger competition he has the quickness that allows him to score easily.
Bennett has surprisingly decent range for his size as well, shooting a respectable 38% from 3 in his loan college year. It's an area that scouts think will translate to the next level and he should provide some solid floor spacing. He has a solid shooting form and is consistent from the FT line so he won't be a liability there.
When it comes to rebounding, Bennett’s college numbers were a bit misleading. He tallied 8 rebounds a game but the bulk of those came on the offensive end. He is very active on the offensive end and looks to crash the glass for easy put backs.
Like most dominant scorers, Bennett's defense left much to be desired. He is likely to give up as many points as he scores owing to his lack of attention. He has all the tools to become a good defender but doesn't have the drive or attention to do it. This will likely hinder his overall impact.
While Bennett is younger and not a finished product, scouts agree that his growth potential is limited. Make no mistake, Bennett will have an impact on the offensive end and should fill up the stat sheet on that end. But his defensive lapses really limit his impact long term.
