Rozier enters the league after a 2 year career at Louisville that saw him take a giant leap from his freshman to sophomore year. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Rozier attended a Military Academy for 1 year after high school to toughen up and prep himself for college basketball (Oh and he also couldn't qualify for college so it was sort of necessary).
Rozier is easily the best true point guard in this class as he was a key cog in Louisville’s guard rotation. He has a nice handle on the ball and is a knack for finding open teammates. Rozier boasted a solid assist to turnover ratio in college while sharing the point duties on his team. Scouts are unsure of how this will translate though once he gets a full workload at point guard.
Rozier is also well built and has a solid frame. Although he will not be the tallest player in the league he will likely be one of the strongest point guards. He is able to withstand contact easily and can bounce off opposing players with ease. He pairs this strength with his outstanding athleticism, he should have no problem acclimating to the speed of the TMBSL.
It's also expected that Rozier will be a plus rebounder for his position as he totaled 5.6 rebounds per game his last year in college. Additionally he should be able to make an immediate impact on the defensive. He has an outstanding 6’8 wingspan which helps him guard multiple spots and get into passing lanes for easy steals.
Rozier could be classified as a volume scorer but scouts aren't sure if that is a positive. He is a streaky shooter that will need to improve his accuracy from any type or range. He has a nice form but it hasn't translated to good scoring efficiency. He only shot 41% his final year of college, so scouts hope that he can improve his shot selection as he can settle for bad jumpers, or ill-advised drives to the basket.
Overall, Rozier is a promising point guard prospect that should make an impact on the defensive end right away. He will need to improve his shot selection and overall decision making when looking to score, but can be an offensive driver if he looks to get his teammates involved. Given that he is already 3 years removed from high school his ceiling is a bit limited but he can have an impact in the right role.
