Kaminsky is considered the elder statesman of the class as he is one of the only guys who is considered a lottery pick to play 4 years of college. He had a decorated career at Wisconsin that culminated in him being named the Naismith College Player of the Year his senior year. Many scouts see him as a high floor kind of player and are excited about what he brings.
Standing over 7 feet tall, Kaminsky has shockingly good footwork for a man his size. This gives him a unique offensive skill set that very few can match. Highly fundamental, he has an array of low post moves that allow him to finish with either hand. He can post up on the block or work to drive the rim when he gets the ball out on top.
His scoring ability even extends out to beyond the three point line, which is rare for a man his size. He shit a surprising 41% from three his senior year on decent volume. This gives his team plenty of floor spacing ability and opens things up for his inside game.
He is a sneaky good passer and can help operate an offense with an inside out philosophy. The added bonus is that he takes care of the ball as well so he shouldn't be a turnover concern. He should also be a big asset from the FT line where he shot 78% his senior year.
His height and length helped him grab his fair share rebounds while in college but scouts wonder how much that will translate. He will continue to be one of the tallest, and longest, players in the league but he will need to work on his strength. He could get a bit bullied on the boards when going against much stronger big men.
Scouts biggest concern for Kaminsky is in relation to his athletic ability. He is a subpar athlete that lacks any form of lateral quickness or much leaping ability. This most hurts him on the defensive end as he struggles to stay in front of quicker, more athletic players. His height and length will help him force some turnovers and blocks, but his overall effectiveness on defense will be limited.
The offensive talent is there but scouts agree that his ceiling is very limited. Most consider him a fully developed player and outside of gaining natural strength he has likely reached the top of his game. Overall, Kaminsky is a player with a rare skill set for his position and in the right system could be a major asset.
