In honor of our departed comrade, two-time champion and frac king bankz . I'll take the baton and keep his free agency previews going.
Tier 1: Elite Players at the position, Max them without hesitation
Tier 2: Great Players at the position, Deal could be in the 10m per to full max range
Tier 3: Good Players at the position, Deals could be in the 5-10m per year range
Tier 4: Average Players at the position, MLE's
Tier 5: Roster Filler, LLE's
Make it rain bitches...This is Tier 1
Nobody - Joel Embiid, Jabari Parker, Jusuf Nurkic & Nikola Jokic all offered to resign and all have been accepted so there is absolutely nobody in this class worth a max. Sorry.
Good Guys... Good Players... Tier 2
Moving on...
Clint Capela C 6'10'' 235 24 B+ C- C B+ B+ A
Yes, I have Client f'n Capela as the top free agent. Amnesties are only 50k and Clint has incredibly sexy grades. He offered to resign for the max, but based on Yawn's situation I don't think he accepts it. Clint did average 22 PPG, 12 RPG & 3 Bleals per 36 last season. So maybe the production is catching up to the grades and you have a nice B tier big locked up or worst case scenario you have an overpriced third big that you can amnesty.
Julius Randle PF 6'9'' 255 23 A- C D- C B+ D
I am not the biggest Julius Randle fan since he is a bit of a one trick pony and will never be a plus defender stat wise. Good scorer for an inside offense, maybe his rebounding gets to A- which allows him to average a double-double and makes the grades prettier. I expect Tim to bring him back but will be interesting to see what type of contact he gives Randle after acquiring Antoine Carr.
Dave Jamerson SG 6'5'' 190 26 B A D+ C C C
Not your typical 10 PPG scoring shooting guard. He offered to resign for the max but Ank likely won't accept due to already having Cenk, Kyrie and now Embiid on maxes. And Caron will be up for a new deal in a couple years. Jamerson was one of the better young shooting guards in the league before the Knicks tossed him aside in favor of Cenky. Maybe/probably Dave holds a grudge and wants to be a scoring option for an outside offense on his own team. I'm going to have to talk myself out of maxing him when typing up bids.
Ughh... I guess... Tier 3
Vasilije Micic PG 6'5'' 200 24 C+ A- A- C D
With the Lakers drafting Fat, Micic has become expendable. He's nowhere near deserving of the max that he offered to resign for, but is probably worth a similar deal to what Semaj Christon received last year or Diante Garrett a couple years ago.
Joakim Noah C 6'11'' 230 31 A- C- C B+ A C
Lloyd Sharrar C 6'10'' 230 34 B- D+ F+ B- A D
Rebounding seems to be all the rage in 6.0 which is why I have these two aging bigs here. Noah is younger and likely the better player but he has TO issues and may take shots from your better players. Sharrar knows his role and is there to muck things up on the boards while playing solid defense. Good pieces for winners to have their roster.
Wayne Estes SF 6'6'' 215 34 B+ C D C A- D
See above about rebounding being all the rage in this league. Estes had a bounce back year for the Bobcats this year, averaging 20 PPG & 9.8 RPG. Due to Estes' age I think that Odin will sign him to a long term deal above market value. Would be a good short term option for an inside team should Odin decide not to keep him.
Omer Asik C 7'0'' 255 28 A- C- C- B B- C
Came on the last two years after getting out of Charlotte. Asik is a very good third big to solid starting complimentary big.
Travis Diener PG 6'1'' 175 31 C A C+ C D C
Another quality guard buried on the Knicks. We've had some younger PGs start to develop and push Diener down the list of PGs, but he is still in the top 15 and deserves the chance to run his own team for a couple seasons.
Stanko Barac C 7'1'' 240 30 A- C C- B+ B- C
He was good for me last year averaging just about 20 PPG,10 RPG & 3 Bleals. Ended up eleventh in win shares for centers last season, but nobody wanted to trade for him. Will be a good option as complimentary or third big.
You get pennies and you will like it... Tier 4
Sidney Green PF 6'9'' 220 33 A- C D C B- C
Can still score, but that is really it.
Dante Exum PG 6'6'' 196 23 C+ B A- B+ D+ B
Another young player that maybe the production catches up to the grades. Low risk-high reward type of signing.
Amir Johnson PF 6'11'' 230 26 B+ C- C- B- A- B
Marcin Gortat C 7'0'' 225 29 B C C- B B+ C
Solid AF bigs that are capable of playing big minutes for title contenders.
David Lee PF 6'9'' 250 30 A C+ B C- C+ C
Also can score, and that is it.
Larry Smith PF 6'8'' 215 32 B+ C B- B- B+ C
See Amir, but older and wiser.
Manute Bol C 7'7'' 205 31 C+ D+ F+ B+ C+ C
Averaged 2 BPG and who doesn't need more shot blocking on their team.
Marcin Gortat C 7'0'' 225 29 B C C- B B+ C
Good third big.
Aaron Gordon PF 6'8'' 225 23 A- D+ C B+ B C
Some people seem to like him, I think he stinks. Hopefully nobody offers above an MLE.
George Hill PG 6'4'' 180 28 C A- C+ C C C
Maybe the second best back up PG in the league behind Diener, somebody should give him a shot to run a team.
Robert Whaley C 6'10'' 260 31 A- C C B+ B D
Third big type.
Bobby Hurley PG 6'0'' 165 29 C- B- A+ B D C
No longer terrible (for an inside type of team).
You don't get an amusing gif because... tier 5
Marc Gasol C 7'0'' 275 31 C C+ B C+ B C
How sad.
Wayne Robinson PF 6'8'' 222 32 B C- D B B- D
Is not Ervin Johnson-lite.
Rodney Rogers SF 6'7'' 235 29 A- C C- C C D
Generic wing capable of averaging 20 PPG on a terrible team.
Uros Slokar C 6'10'' 238 30 A- C- C B- C+ D
Didn't play a single minute last year so fresh legs.
Ahsraf Amaya PF 6'8'' 230 28 A- C C- B- B- D
You can do worse.
