A superb 15-letter athlete at Porterville (CA) High School, Sharman became a bona fide star at the University of Southern California where he was a two-time All-Pacific Coast Conference selection and Conference MVP. Sharman was one of the greatest athletes on campus as he starred in both basketball and baseball while in college. He is so good in baseball as well that he is considering playing professional ball in his offseason, but be assured, basketball is his main love.
Sharman blends his athletic ability and has formed a beautiful shooting stroke that has helped him become a legendary Free Throw shooter. Posting some of the best percentages that the school, and conference, has ever seen. While he doesn't have any experience playing with a 3pt line, scouts expect his shooting form to extend well beyond it.
Even though he plays SG, Sharman could be considered a “combo guard'', even if that moniker wasn't around in his time. Sharman is a great distributor of the ball and likes to get his team involved. If he is unable to create an open look he often is able to make the right play to set up his teammates.
Sharman likely will not be a plus defender for any team as he too often is leaking to create fast break opportunities. His athleticism is his only asset as he is far more focused on the offensive end. Similarly, he is not one to crash the glass for rebounds. His quickness and agility help him snag here and there but scouts don't expect him to put up league leading numbers.
Being one of the oldest players in the class scouts expect Sharman to be a ready made player. Entering at an advanced age, relative to other classes, he is likely fully developed and scouts don't expect much growth. Also, if he does look to play baseball in the offseason scouts worry it could hinder additional “natural” development.
