Regarded as one of the greatest athletes of his time, Cumberland Posey may be best known for his time in baseball, but he was also a top-notch basketball player during his day. At just 5-feet-4 inches tall, Posey floats quickly and gracefully around the perimeter where he scores most of his points. Posey played collegiately at Penn State where he deployed his long-range shooting for big numbers. For the city of Pittsburgh, Cumberland Posey was their first and most prolific superstar athlete. Historians maintain radio broadcasters coined the term “Cum shot” any time Posey teed one up from deep, giving his opponent a facial. Cum plays fast and loose with his balls and might tend to lose control and turn it over some. He’s perfectly comfortable not being the offensive focal point and spotting up for kick outs to get his points, feeding the post whenever he gets the chance. He’s developed a really nice floater which became necessary once he got to college given his height. Possesses solid bulk for such a small frame and will compete for rebounds and points in the paint when he has to. Won’t get pushed around inside by other point guards. Scouts are afraid he might be a finished product given how much he’s shown at this point in his career, but some think there could still be some untapped potential left in Posey.
