Native Chicagoan Terry Cummings flourished at hometown DePaul which saw him average 12 rebounds per game as a junior. It was after this much acclaimed junior season that Terry entered his name into the TMBSL draft. He should be the cream of the crop of this class on the glass, using his superior strength an positioning to scoop offensive and defensive rebounds alike. On offense you’ll very likely find Cummings going hard in the paint where he shot .56% as a junior. He was the focal point of the DePaul offense, and when he was inside, no one could stop Cummings.
Defensively he’ll do a bit of rim protecting, and is also quick with his hands in passing lanes. He should give his team at least a steal and a block per game as a professional. Athletically, outside of the weight room he will leave a little bit to be desired. Opposing defenses have never said Cummings is too quick when the balls in his hands. He’s an average leaper, using his length to collect his steals, boards, and blocks. Scouts don’t expect him to venture outside of the post very often, as he didn’t attempt a three ball in college. His mid-range game is about average, he’s not going to kill you at the line, he shot 77% from the line during his college career. His ball movement could use work, he’s not one to dish out assists. Thankfully he’s got sure hands and shouldn’t turn it over excessively either. Scouts are split on his growth potential, entering the league as one of the younger players in the class the majority think there is plenty of room for growth, while some think he could be capped out.
