We back bitches. Another off-season of hope that will quickly turn into disappointment when 80% of the class re-signs and the remaining talent goes to a competitor. But hey allow me to break down the best of what may be available because you never really know to you know...
Tier 1: Elite Players at the position, Max them without hesitation
Tier 2: Great Players at the position, Deal could be in the 10m per to full max range
Tier 3: Good Players at the position, Deals could be in the 5-10m per year range
Tier 4: Average Players at the position, MLE's
Tier 5: Roster Filler, LLE's
Make it rain bitches...This is Tier 1
Antoine Carr (PF) - My baby hits the market, and his been revamped and reset. He's back to his elite efficiency since and will command a big money. This is cut and dry guys.
Rodney McCray (SF) - So an interesting case is Mr. McCray. As the main man on a roster (Spurs, Suns) he's pretty elite. As a member of a loaded roster (Sixers, Hawks) he's very good. I guess judge accordingly. To me he's a max guy and a player I want to 100% have on my roster still.
Dale Ellis (SF) - The scoring god is hopefully testing the waters of free agency. Keep it simple stupid.
Clyde Drexler (SF) - Most expected Clyde to eventually be the best player out of his draft class, never happened. But he's still great. He's still worth every dollar you offer.
Larry Smith (PF) - I still believe Larry is a fantastic player in this league. His rebounds are strong, his scoring efficient and defense is solid. I could see him not getting the mega offers given his age. I'm a fan.
Tobias Harris (SF) - This kid looks really good. He's a SF and he's coming off his rookie deal, Max this dude no question.
Nikola Vucevic (C) - Great scorer, great rebounder, if that defense comes along... watch out. The second clear max off this Grizzlies roster
Kawhi Leonard (SF) - Amazing defender, Amazing rebounder, ok scorer. He's a no question max. How great he can be will be based on if those TCs can get his volume up.
Jonas Valanciunas (C) - Great scorer, bad rebounder, really good defender. Its a max.
Kyrie Irving (PG) - The best player in sim. The entire league would love him and would greatly enjoy Ank having heartbreak.
Good Guys... Good Players... Tier 2
Wayne Estes (SF) - A creation file stud, Wayne has spent many wonderful years in sim. No longer elite Wayne is still a very good wing in this league regardless of his old age. His contract could be crazy since he will retire shortly or maybe more reasonable since he's been largely neglected in Washington. Keep an eye out on he responds to being back with the Bobs.
Kenny George (C) - The big man still blocks shot at a top tier level. But his scoring has turned to shit and rebounding has slowed. Still a value deal could really improve his value for a flip if your a non contender. I think he's probably more of 3rd big on a contender as long as his rebounds don't dip further.
James Blackmon Jr. (SG) - Still a very good player for those running outside offense. A candidate to not even be on the market thanks to age. If he does test pray he does hit the cliff but worth the risk.
Ralph Sampson (C) - Sampson was solid since day one, never hit the elite level but has maintained his all around strong game. Good piece for any contender.
Jimmy Butler (SF) - I think because of the position he plays and his age Jimmy could see plenty of max offers. I don't know if he has the potential to ever be worthy of a max because I can't see him growing to get the volume needed. But let's see who rolls that dice.
Ughh... I guess... Tier 3
Michael Brooks (SF) - Brooks still have volume but the efficiency is borderline and I think that will be a factor on what money and years are dished out. Still a great rebounder for the position.
Stanko Barac (C) - Good scoring, good defense, not so good rebounding but still a decent player.
Manute Bol (C) - He's probably right on the line between Tier 3 and 4. He's a fantastic defender, meh rebounder... Could just as easy see him getting a MLE
Walter Sharpe (C) - I could see this man getting a nice contract if he hits free agency. Good rebounder, really good defender, wont kill you on offense.
Travis Diener (PG) - He should be a starting PG in this league. I think he's a guy that needs to be in a outside offense, maybe a balanced offense. If you run inside move along.
Derrick Williams (PF) - Fantastic scorer, OK rebounder, no defense to speak of... Turnovers may scare some off.
Bismack Biyombo (C) - Great Rebounder, Very good defender, worth more than a MLE...
J.R. Giddens (SF) - He's the discount Jimmy Butler...
You get pennies and you will like it... Tier 4
Johan Petro (C) - His blocks look great, rebounding not so much and he's never going to be a scorer. Still a good depth guy.
Spencer Hawes (C) - If you need good scoring and not much else from a big, Spencer is the man.
Morris Almond (SG) - Efficient scorer, not much more... sensing a trend with this tier.
Brad Wannamaker (PG) - Low turnover PG, classic type of player for that inside offense.
Ashraf Amaya (C) - I thought he would develop into a more well rounded guy after his first few TCs... not so much
