Through heavyreign's wisdom, there are 29 teams in the software. 15 in the East and 14 in the West.
We currently have 1 empty team. The Mavs in the West, which further unbalances things to 15 vs 13.
I think we should adjust that so that it is 14 active GMs in each conference. Should we do this?

An even number of human GMs in each Conf would be ideal, but is it worth it? I don't know.
Is there an East GM that would like to move West? Because that is the question that really needs to be answered.

Those seasons, the imbalance was out of our control (#heavyreign). Now it is in our control and we can choose to not have the imbalance. |

I formally submitted my request to move to the West this last offseason and the commissioners office told me I needed to have another GM agree to the move.
I then formally submitted my request to the commissioners office as the GM of the Mavericks to switch conferences. My request has been languishing in the interwebs without response.
I agree with Ankly, obviously. The imbalance is stupid and we can solve it.

spend more time trying to recruit another gm and less time making clunky requests that dont really accomplish anything

It's not a clunky request. We have a volunteer from the Central Division (the oversized division) that is willing to shift over. That would be seamless and easy.
And I'm not claiming this is some sort of major improvement. It's more of a minor/easy one. And there's not much of a counterargument other than reflexively arguing against change.
14 teams in each conference. 8 playoff teams in each conference. 6 non-playoff teams in each conference. More symmetrical and fair.

Pacers proceed in the East through the entirety of the offseason 2. At end of offseason, empty out Mavs roster and replace with 6-7 guys on 1 year, $10 million deals 3. Trade entire Pacers roster after Day 5 FA to the Mavs roster using those expiring $10 million deals 4. Rename HTML/Rosters Now Step #4 may be clunky, I'm not sure. But #1 - #3 seem pretty smooth to me. |
