Ricky Pierce SG 6’4” 205 23 Rice University
Pierce busted onto the scene in college as a bulldozer for the Rice Owls, being named All-Conference 3 straight years. This all culminated in being named the Southwest Conference Player of the Year in his final season and ranking as the schools all time leading scorer. Pierce is an absolute animal in the low post and is always looking to dominate his opponents. Pierce generally has 2 goals in mind at all times; rebounding and scoring. Very little else matters to him but thankfully he is very good at both. Peirce has a tenacity and is always looking to take the ball and drive inside. He is a very strong player for his build, likely due to being one of the oldest members of the draft class. He has a strong frame and can battle with anyone down low for rebounds. He is a power forward in a shooting guard's body. He rarely looks like shoot the ball from any point outside of the paint, it's just not a part of his game. However, scouts think he has good shooting form so it's likely more focus than skill. With Pierce putting so much effort into rebounding and scoring his attention really lacks on the defensive end. He tends to lose his defensive assignment as he likes to cheat in for the rebound. Teams shouldnt expect Pierce to provide much of anything on this end of the floor. Also, given his age and natural build, scouts don't think he has much room for more growth.
