The reigning MVC Player of the Year, Pressey makes the leap to TMBSL after a storied college career. Thought of by most as one of the originators of the “Point Forward” position, Pressey combines a nice mix of point guard traits with that of a forward. While not common for his time, many would consider Pressey to be that of a combo guard, able to influence the game in a number of ways.
Pressey's best attributes from the start will be his vision and defense. Pressey was a lockdown defender in college and scouts anticipate he will be able to keep up that effort in TMBSL. He anticipates well and is able to jump into passing lanes for easy steals. He has good quickness as well, which helps him stay in front of defenders. Overall he is expected to be a pest on the defensive end, no matter who he is guarding.
His anticipation also helps him on the offensive side as his steals and vision help create easy buckets for teammates. Pressey is able to quickly move in transition and make the right play for his team. Pressey isn't expected to play in the traditional PG position but many scouts expect him to pitch in with a good number of assists.
Offensively, Pressey showed great efficiency his senior year, shooting a blistering 56% from the field. Scouts are impressed with his pure shooting ability but they don't expect him to be a high volume shooter, his focus is usually in other areas of the game. Pressey scored a solid 13.2 ppg his senior year but teams shouldnt expect him to be a big time scorer, at least not right away. It will take some dedicated coaching and time to get his scoring up to league standards.
Pressey is a bit lanky as well, scouts do have reservations on his strength and he will need to add some bulk. This is visible in his rebounding and many don't expect him to be a great rebounder. He put up average numbers in college and the hope is that any added strength can help in this area. There are also concerns about his turnovers as his willingness to pass does lead to some ill-advised decisions. With his planned move to SG scouts don't think this will be a long term concern but he will likely make a few boneheaded passes every game.
