We back bitches. Another off-season of hope that will quickly turn into disappointment when 80% of the class re-signs and the remaining talent goes to a competitor. But hey allow me to break down the best of what may be available because you never really know to you know...
Tier 1: Elite Players at the position, Max them without hesitation
Tier 2: Great Players at the position, Deal could be in the 10m per to full max range
Tier 3: Good Players at the position, Deals could be in the 5-10m per year range
Tier 4: Average Players at the position, MLE's
Tier 5: Roster Filler, LLE's
Make it rain bitches...This is Tier 1
Kevin Love (PF) - Love has the best ws/48 of the free agents who will test the market. If history may teach us anything its that big men hate staying in Washington and Yawn will haunt them to the death. Love is very efficient and a solid rebounder and great scorer.
Theodoros Papaloukas (PG) - Theo is back for another go in sim league. He's still a very good point guard even at his age. The contract will be massive but he wont live the duration of it. Pay this man.
Serge Ibaka (PF) - Ibaka just keeps improving and has lived up to every expectation if not surpassed it thus far in his career. Those grades are fantastic, his production is great and I'm not overly concerned about his turnover issues as he's largely been the main volume asset for the rosters he's been on.
Good Guys... Good Players... Tier 2
Charlie Villanueva (PF) - So Charlie is one of the more improved players in the league. From MLE to now a legit conversation could be had he's not a tier 2 type talent. I think the fact this class isn't overly strong even with the guys who decided to return that Charlie may get more than he would in a more packed class bringing him to tier 2. Betting on himself should return a big pay day for the young man.
Anthony Randolph (PF) - Randolph was a roll of the dice that turned into a big winner for JHB. He now test the free agent market. I don't believe he's efficient enough for the volume he puts up to max him. With that said I wouldn't be surprised to see a full max listed next to this young man when Eric announces results.
Ughh... I guess... Tier 3
Acie Earl (C) - Earl is a great rebounder and a solid defender. He's your classic D/R big. Again a bare market will push his pay up. Length of this deal will be interesting as I think a creative bid could steal this gent.
Spencer Dinwiddie (PG) - Spencer has come out of nowhere to be a pretty efficient and solid point guard in this league. I could see this guy being a starter and producing great numbers in this role. He and Earl are both guys I might be most interested in what the final years and numbers come in as.
Uros Slokar (C) - Uros has always taken a lesser deal for his team. Welp not now... the cure of the Bullets if you will. Another big man choosing to test the market. Uros was able to put up nice numbers in the series upset against the 76ers and a good pay day should be in his future.
You get pennies and you will like it... Tier 4
Joel Anthony (C) - Classic D/R big drowning in the sea of Wolves, Joel is good just not elite and thus got pushed down the pecking order. He's worth a MLE and maybe more.
Doc Rivers (PG) - Doc has always been underrated in sim league. He's still very capable of leading a team and he's a good talent to have for depth if you have a brighter star in your leading role. Either way he's one of the best PGs on the market at this point.
Salah Mejri (C) - A big man who has high volume, poor efficiency and his blocks are not a strong suite. If you want to roll the dice on a reboot or just need some scoring edge off the bench this man could fill that void.
Mile Ilic (C) - Ilic wont give you much of anything outside of scoring. But boy he does that really well. A big man who will score easy buckets for a team who may need a scoring punch off the bench.
Ian Mahinmi (C) - Mahinmi is a great rebounder but doesn't offer much else at a great clip. But when looking to fill out bench roles and options for depth taking a swing at guys with singular elite tools isn't the worst of decisions.
