This doesn't come up a lot but 20s and I were chatting in shout and really don't understand why this is limited.
The 5 Mil or less extension rule currently only applied to players signed during the Free Agency period, FADays 1 thru 5. It cannot be applied to someone signed in FA after that point.
I propose we change the extension rule to apply to anyone signed from Free Agency at anytime, not just those signed during the Free Agency Days 1 thru 5.
Thoughts?
This would not take effect until at least after this season, 3010 and forward.

team a has a decent player on an expiring rookie contract, let's call them Rerrick Dose
team a trades that player to team b team b cuts the player at a prearranged time, team a posts an fa signing immediately after extends them
two years later... team a trades that player to team b team b cuts the player at a prearranged time, team a posts an fa signing immediately after extends them
two years later...
.
this is not practical with the current rule because the teams have no way of knowing if other teams will bid on the player in FA (since it is not required for a player to be an FA at the time the bid is sent), or whether the player will sign the deal they or anyone else offers (especially relevant with the $5m limit), or whether they'll have enough soft cap remaining to make the bid

That scenario has a risk though, right? Because the player would have to clear waivers. And if the player clears waivers there should be no issue with a team extending that player's contract. You could actually make an argument that they'd be overpaying the player at that point if not one else was wiling to even pick them up for a min deal.

"players who are cut cant be signed until after the next sim is posted" i fixed erics problem team b waits to cut the player until immediately before a prearranged sim, team a spams refresh, most of the league has no idea what's happening and since signings and cuts can be posted in trade threads even people actually on the board can easily miss it too we could fix that by making cuts having to be posted an hour before deadline, or make every cut player go through waivers (and we all know how much the league loves waivers), but how many additional new rules do we have to add (and all their ripple effects) before the OP rule just isn't worth the trouble

Do cut players go through waivers? Thought so but maybe not.

we could fix that by making cuts having to be posted an hour before deadline The idea of an hour deadline for cuts and 30 minutes for everything else on most sim days is not appealing, and moving the deadline to an hour every day is not worth it.

What if we made the rule apply to any players that were signed in FA and were included in the most recent FA pool?
That eliminates the cut, resign, extend scenario.
