In Ben Simmons' first season in THE National Basketball Association he shot 37.5% on jump shots from an average distance of 10 feet. That's bad. But it's not unworkable - for the first five years of Dwyane Wade's career he only shot 38.1% on jump shots, and only from an average distance of 15 feet. It was a different time then, as the league-leading Orlando Magic's .322 3PR would be good for a cool 28th in the league now and every other 2008 team would be dead last, but still. And he was only 21. . But his jumper has gotten worse every year since. 37.2% in year two 33.3% in year three 31.4% so far this year And he's not stretching out his range - his jumpers have had an average distance of 9 8 and 9 feet in those years. Even Russell Westbrook at his worst only got below that mark once, when he shot 30.2% on jumpers in 2019, and almost half of his jumpers were threes which he almost shot at 30%. But to be fair to Ben, he is on track to set a career high in turnovers and a career low in points.
